Lexus GS F to have superchaged 5.0-liter V8 - report
2013 Lexus GS 350 - 23.8.2011

Could be coming for the 2014 model year

Lexus has downplayed rumors of a GS F, but a new report is indicating the car could be launched as a 2014 model.

Inside Line is reporting the M5 competitor will have a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine with approximately 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS). It would reportedly be connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which would send power to the rear wheels.

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda declined to confirm the speculation, but said "I want Lexus to be the brand chosen by the most sophisticated of drivers" and "don't worry about high-performance Lexuses like F Sport and F models going away."

LFA motor would suck in this car. Big cars need torque. The V10 would certainly sound sweeter, but the supercharged engine will probably have obbs of torque. But at the end of the day, it's still a Lexus.

Maybe perhaps Lexus would come up with a bored out, slightly de-tuned version of that V10 engine for the necessary torque ? Or maybe remaining 4.8L as 480nm is enough ? Just a guess......

I'm sure they could "make it work" Douglas, but that doesn't mean they will. Not only is the power curve the wrong shape (the V10 is tuned like a racecar, so all the power is at the top which is unsuitable in a big 4-door), but it's probably a more expensive engine and they're much more likely to follow the trend of downsizing and using forced induction. The age of V10 saloons is past. It's way more likely to use the 5.0 V8 from the IS-F with a Supercharger added on.

big V8 + supercharger...seems to me like a good recipe and sounds familiar to Mercedes-AMG engines...well with Lexus engineers experienced with LFA they could bring phenomenal gearbox and sporty ride....very well Lexus :D

I fail to see what all the fuss is about. Nice car but nothing to catch my eye other than the dramatic lines trying to make it look aggressive and fail overall. I've seen a lot better from Lexus, sorry.

Funny how people here saying it is boring and when it hits the dealerships it going to sell like hot cakes. I was hopping for a super charged LFA engine but it its going to be a great car

I truly have to disagree, with your statements. I personally have created more excitment, passing a stone, than this car will ever. Lexus does not inspire with their designs.sorry. But on the other hand opinions are like belly buttons, everyones got one or should have.

Good move by Lexus, they finally are getting with the program. By using forced induction, they are on par with the competition, even though they will be like 10yrs late. The only way this car stands a chance is with high hp, high torque, and decent fuel economy. Not happening with the V10, but the S/C V8 will do the trick. Im curious how much torque Lexus will aim for, and what transmission they are going to fit in the GS-F. Is a beefed up AWD system from the RX450H a possibility to compete against the Audi RS6.

You need to have a V8 to play in this class & un-natural aspiration is necessary to overcome the weight in these things. Just build it, Lexus.
