Lexus LFA N?rburgring Edition laps Nordschleife in 7:14 - report
Lexus LFA with N?rburgring Package 23.02.2011

One of the fastest times ever posted

It looks like we were right when we said Akira Iida was taking it easy when he lapped the Nordschleife in 7:22.85 with the Lexus LFA Nürburgring Edition as an exhibition run.

According to a tweet by EVO's Chris Harris, the Gazoo Racing driver has managed to beat his previous record by setting a new time of 7:14.XX. If this turns out to be correct, the LFA would become one of the fastest production vehicles to ever complete the 20.8 km (12.9 mile) long course.

As we have previously reported, the Nürburgring Edition has a carbon fiber body kit, a retuned suspension, an upgraded six-speed sequential transmission and a 4.8-liter V10 engine with 562 hp (419 kW / 570 PS). The package costs an additional $70,000 but enables the car to rocket from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).

The standard LF-A has been tested in 7:38, slower than the R8GT and slower than the GT3RS. here is the data: http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/9715/screenshot2011083100182.jpg and this should have clocked a 7:14? lol!!

Great car for around $100.000. Otherwise for the sticker price get a Lambo Aventador that looks cooler and much faster in real world. Plus you have a Lexus. Which RX? No LF-A OOoo I think that the one my grandma drives. Explain that one, might take a while LoL.

his point is that if it cost that much it would be worth it, but it costs 3x that much and hence he'd get something else. i agree with him.

i seriously doubt they can achieve such an improvement from those changes. I think the Ring is losing it?s spark, all the rumours of brands cheating and all the crap surronding the track these days is just sad. All these time attack stuff is dead for me, idrc anymore who?s the fastest.

I believe it even in TG test track it done it in 1:22 in a wet track so if the track was dry it may done it in around 1:18.3 which is very fast. This car is really impressive a true master piece. will done Lexus

I guess this particular version is even more so a masterpiece. Just these tweaks on the car, not even big modifications, are already of such an impact to the car's speed !! I remember seeing a Best Motoring Video of their classic battle at Fuji Speedway, involving cars like the LF-A, GT-R, Corvette ZR-1 and 911 GT2, and that video showed the LF-A is great round corners, but lacked straight line speed (if that is true !) . This is a serious improvement then !

Lexus was confused as they did not know who to "copy" in the style process of the car. Regardless of performance, it is something I would be embarrassed (sic) to drive up in.....did I just see $300K!!!!! Oh man, Porsche GT2 RS for sure, and BTW might get daring and go for the McLaren MP4/12C....think about it, save some money, have true racing heritage, and perhaps one of the most beautiful cars in the world...the McLaren, not the Lexus.

The advantage of the LFA is that you could have it serviced at your local Toyota dealership!!!!! (maybe....)

Why tuners did play with this car? I want a performance package that adds a 100 hp. This car needs more power.

Is there video evidence of this? Its still a Lexus which will never have the cache of the real supercars no matter what they do with it. Toyota was an epic fail in F1!!! McLaren over this any day!!!

Well I think the brand doesnt actually matter for supercars. This is not a family car, so as long as it's good and special, there will be buyers to appretiate it, even with if they are tiny operations like perhaps Noble, or Ascari, and let's not forget, this is a Lexus, a much more well-known brand. On the other hand, yes Toyota spent billions on F1 without a single win, but they score points very consistently in its history, and does have regular podium finishes as well. Their 2009 TF109 also goes down as one of their most competitive cars. In this case if this is an epic fail then I guess, famous names such as Williams and Sauber, or maybe Toro Rosso will be kicked out of the sport ? No No No....... It's not easy in F1 mate !

Had this car been $65,000-$80,000 as the new Supra, this car would be a world smashing hit that would have hit iconic status the moment it was released. Toyota should have amortized the costs (that they chose to exacerbate to begin with) over the entire company and then used the technology advancements across models to improve efficiency and competition at all price point models. But no....
