Mercedes SLA coming in 2013 - report
Will be based on the A- & B-Class
According to a recent report, Mercedes will launch an SLA roadster in 2013.
Designed to battle the Audi TT, the model will reportedly have SLK-inspired styling and a canvas roof. Unfortunately, the car is slated to ride on the front-wheel drive MFA platform.
Engine options will likely carryover from the A- and B-Class, so expect a turbocharged 1.6-liter petrol and a 1.8-liter diesel. Regardless of which mill is selected, it will likely be paired to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

I don't care if it's a Mercedes or not, I've seen completely wrecked cars that looked better than this concept. Either it's designer was a really hot blonde chick; the kind everyone wants to be nice to for obvious reasons, or they're the 'really supportive' type who shamelessly walks around with their brown nose held high. I'm hoping hot blonde.

This concept is from 2000, and many concept cars like this don't age well. And a modern SLA would never look like this.

In case you haven't noticed, no matter how ugly, a Mercedes at the right price will overcrowd the streets. People love to tell they are driving a Mercedes even if that is a B class monstrosity. Be sure this will be well accepted and bought by the fake elite.

FWD Platform...ha ha ha ha...
MB and Audi and ALL other Roadster makers JUST DO NOT GET IT...BTW, WHY even comment WFC, and put a pic up of a 11 year old concept...????????

here (in Australia) the TT starts about 20k less than the SLK - so the SLK is more of a Z4/Porsche Boxster rival. Whereas something like the SLA would be more of a TT/MX5/370Z/eventual Z2 rival

And let's not forget the Mini Roadster is about a year from production which here will be about $50-$60k which is where I think they are planning on targeting the SLA.
