Lexus GS can accommodate LFA V10 engine
Engineer hints at production GS F?
A new report is reviving speculation the Lexus GS F could be outfitted with the LFA's 4.8-liter V10 engine that develops 553 hp (412 kW / 560 PS) and 353 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque.
Speaking with GoAuto, chief engineer Yoshihiko Kanamori said the engine can technically fit in the 2013 GS but would need to be retuned for more torque. That sounds rather promising, but Kanamori revealed the company has no plans for such a model.

Curious how this would turn out if they do it? It would be hard to compete with the M5 and E63 AMG.

Yet another Toyota to commit suicide with. It's about as passionate and exciting as a wet soggy pudding. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've obviously never driven a Sienta as a family car. V10 "Aristo" would be a hell of a lot more passionate than my Sienta.

Lexus FAILS when it comes to performance. They have no racing pedigree or heritage credentials (and NEVER will); the LFA is an overpriced failure and this car is blancmange with no imagination. This time, the buyers will die of boredom at the wheel.

Well, the $400K LFA gets trumped by a $250K 458 (and everything as-fast-as AND faster-than) in just about every category. What kinda "halo car" gets trumped by other companies "entry-level" performance vehicles? I'd call that a fail...

Agree but Toyota has decent racing experience.
Looks like a Suzuki Kazashi from the back. Not a bad thing really...

Are you really that stupid? Have you ever heard about the JGCT, where the Lexus based teams have had great success as well as the fact that the Lexus 1UZ engine from the SC400 was actually the engine used in almost every Toyota Supra and V8 Toyota/Lexus based race car for the past 20 years. Add to this that they have had a great car from the start being the SC series and then the LFA to top that off, not to forget about the IS-F, you clearly don't have the slightest clue about what you are writing.

As Benz man says, its a failure because it drives NO faster than a rival at HALF the price!

Kanamori-san has a point. The highest strung NA super sedans don't usually get much more than 100bhp/L. More torque down low is needed to shift the weight.

As an owner as a 01 GS300... This is the only exciting new about this car, but the way how this car looks, It does not deserve the V10. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT!

this needs the LFA MOTOR BUT ADD TWIN TURBOS AND 1000HP HAHAHAHAHAAH

Don't care what people says. The lfa compact v10 is one of the best engine in the world
August 23, 2011 9:20 pm
Totally agreed. This engine is fantastic! One of the best in the world right now, by far. There hasnt been any reviews of the car, but if they did put this engine in, it would definately spice things right up! There are some ignorant comments that lexus dont have a racing pedigree, which infact, they do. They have all the tools to make one hell of a GS-F and I really hope they do, but I am very sceptical about them ever using this engine in this car - it'll remove a large reason to justify the price tag on the LFA! - although some would say, if you can afford that kind of money and you wanted one, it probably wouldn't make much difference anyway.

true the 458 is better looking and faster than the LFA but the LFA isn't going to fall apart in a week. I'm betting you could drive the LFA everyday too. As far as this GS F goes I don't think Toyota has the ball to drop the LFA motor in it. They will most likely just tune the IS F for the new car. They use the same V8 for every other V8 powered Toyota.

My God you have an outdated view on Italian cars. Also why would the plonk the $400,000 LFA's engine into a humdrum GS saloon the engine probably cost more than the car!

@Broseph Stalin. +1. Unfortunately bad reps die hard. As you know, Ferrari makes quality machinery these days.

Paris Hilton is the most famous person to have an LFA- she's had 2 actually a yellow and a white, that pretty much ruins the car for me. Secondly no matter what anyone says, Lexus would find a way to make the GS V10 boring. The IS-F has FAKE quad exhaust tips=FAIL. You cant pull that off, no one can or would even try. I cant think of anyone that I know that would take an LFA over a 458 or a Gallardo.Either way Lexus is not going to make this, and even if they did, wouldnt you prefer an M5??
August 24, 2011 7:40 am
Paris only has a white one. The Yellow one was just used for the photo shoot as her white car wasn't ready.
A V10 GS-F is a pipe dream, the cost would be insane. There likely will be a F-Sport GS but probably just with a tuned 3.5 V6 and better suspension.

Thank God I have a mind of my own! Lexus know they are on to something good here; Audi and Lamborghini share engines and why can't they? Great plans and I'm sure Lexus will go for it, and hopefully the GS would finally get the much needed respect it deserves!

Doesnt make much sense with every other car company is downsized their engines from V10 to V8 twin turbo. I do suppose lexus does want to be different and keep on top of their game
