Audi Q7 pickup truck spied - is it an official concept?
Audi Q7 pickup truck - 16.8.2011 / iamaudi.com

The Amarok for the jet set

A few weeks ago, a mysterious image of an Audi Q7 pickup truck surfaced online. The low quality and grainy resolution gave it the appearance of a Photoshop job, but an anonymous tipster has sent AutoGuide three additional pictures of the vehicle.

Now that the truck has been confirmed as legitimate, it remains unclear if this is an official Audi concept or a tuner gone mad. Both possibilities are within the realm of reason, so stay tuned for additional information.

A rich southerner decided to make a pick up out of his q7. There is no reason to make a pickup being Audi

a rich southerner would never buy a german car unless it was a maybach (maybe). The whole point of a pickup is their cheap and can carry stuff. This doesnt even have a tailgate. I think rich southerners will stick to a superduty, so their friends wouldnt accidently run them over in this truck.

pzigly, that's as much a groundless stereotype as saying that no Frenchman would ever buy an American or British car. Have you ever been to Houston or Atlanta? There are German cars everywhere. Northernfolk and Europeans love to think that the U.S. South is this sort of third-world region where EVERYONE is stupid and tasteless. It is true that ignorance runs at higher rates down here than, say, New England, but if you come down here you'll realize that this place is largely normal and, actually, pretty livable (I'd say more livable in some aspects than the North or Europe). And yes, there are a LOT of trucks down here, but it's not exactly because they're cheap. Go into a wealthy neighborhood in Houston or Dallas (bear in mind, both cities are wealthier than all but three European cities per GDP PPP per capita), and you'll see as many big-ass Ford F350 Platinum/Eddie Bauer/Texas Edition/whateverthehelltheyare as you see Bentleys or Porsches. It's just part of Southern culture.

Thats not exactly what i ment. Texas is more tolerant to buying cars that are not ford, chrysler, and gm. I was talking places like mississippi or places that still have the confederate flag still hanging. This truck still wouldnt sell well in places like texas tho. when ur talking utility, u need SIZE. This car doesnt have either. It would be better to use a small suv than this thing. this would only fit in a small city.

That shot looks like it's from an audi/vw meet, so it's most likely a tuner.

clearly the quality of the conversion is not on pair of what Audi itself would do

Anyone who thinks this is an Audi concept vehicle either needs to have their eyes checked or are not familiar with the brand. I am sure that Scott at iamaudi.com can shed a little light on the matter as it appears that he may have even taken the photos. Maybe a set of longhorns on the front would kill the concept rumour mill.

Reminds me of a Merc pick up from a decade ago based on the E class I think. Like it and the Prius, this Q7 is just someone's creative mind...albeit pretty expensive.

My wild guess is a storm (or something) damaged the rear roof enough to total it and the insurance company sold it to an individual or company who renovates and sells (flips) damaged vehicles. Vehicle flipping seems to be a pretty lucrative business for some independent body repair shops. I would have rather had a matching bed cover but the diamond plate was probably the cheapest fix.

I believe this is a tuner special/conversion destined for a promotional role for a company.

It's definitly unoffically an Audi pickup, but it seems well made! Audi whould invest more work then cutting the car behind the b-pillar. They whould reorganice the windowtrimlines, the reardoorlayout and the carrierbox whould be more elegant to fit Audis high technology ambiente.
