Has three carryover engines

The 2012 Toyota Camry has been given an early unveiling thanks to a French-Canadian magazine.

As the pictures reveal, the model will have a familiar design and an improved interior with a prominent infotainment system.

Under the hood, three engines are available. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder produces 169 hp (126 kW / 171 PS) and 167 lb-ft (226 Nm) of torque. It enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 190 km/h (118 mph).

Next up, the hybridized 2.4-liter four-cylinder has a combined output of 187 hp (139 kW / 190 PS) and 199 lb-ft (270 Nm) of torque. This allows the car to run from 0-100 km/h in 8.9 seconds and top out at 200 km/h (124 mph).

Lastly, the 3.5-liter V6 produces 268 hp (200 kW / 272 PS) and 248 lb-ft (335 Nm) of torque. Thanks to the extra power, the sedan sprints from 0-100 km/h in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph).

How exciting ...not! I've always looked at the Camry as being a poor mans Lexus. Automotive know-nothings everywhere rejoice! Your prayers have been answered.

You do have a point. Actually are those really the official specs of the engine ? I mean you can tell that it obviously isn't highly tuned, as this is a saloon car, but the torque figures are absurdly small for its engine size and rather low horsepower config. Also it appears to me more like a facelift version of the current one somehow.... shame... If I gotta choose I would still prefer the US Honda Accord.

But isn't that the turbocharged and direct-injected "Ecotec" engine?

Conservative, bread and butter elicit plenty of yawns and drowsiness. I do not need to take antibiotics, the new-gen Toyota Camry would be my cure.
