 2012 Audi A3 gets a close up

Launches sometime next year

Our friends at Autoblog Argentina have sent us several new pictures of the 2012 Audi A3.

Caught outside a hotel in Salta, the prototype has a familiar shape which echoes the current model. The front fascia is heavily camouflaged, but the headlights appear to draw inspiration from the 2012 A5 and A6. Furthermore, the interior shot reveals the cabin will likely feature high quality materials.

Engine options should include the usual suspects, but there have been rumors of hybrid and EV variants. It remains unclear if both versions will be produced, but Audi is likely considering it.

Screw the hatch, I want an S3 sedan! Solid as the current model is a dose of flavour on the next one won't hurt!

sedan ? That would only work in the US :) Hatchback is definitely more flexible... I'm ok for the similar look all Audi get, BUT they should also get the same catalog of addons. One could like an A5 with the same gadgets as A7. (example: sadly the Q3 won't get Adaptative Cruise Control... sucks)

This is getting ridiculous, all new Audi's, and I mean really all, are starting to look the same, it started with the A6, then the A5 facelift, the A4 facelift (by the spyshots) and now the new A3 but smaller (by the spy shots). Maybe that's the price of globalization, but c'mon, what a joke..

I don't mind some brand familiarity, I just don't think this grill design is attractive. The rest of the car (A5) may look great, and then there is the grill. If the NSU look wasn't stunning before, why bring it back?
