458 Spider coming to Frankfurt?

The highly-anticipated Ferrari Enzo successor is set to be launched sometime next year, according to a report by Automotive News.

The publication says the model will be made from carbon fiber and be powered by a new, naturally-aspirated V12 engine. This contradicts previous reports of a twin-turbo V8, but nothing is official as of yet.

Besides the range-topping supercar, AN says the 599 GTB Fiorano will replaced by an all-new model that is being developed under the F152 codename. Our spies have already caught a prototype undergoing testing in Europe and it will reportedly remain rear-wheel drive and feature a 6.3-liter V12 engine from the FF. A debut is scheduled for the Geneva Motor Show and a European launch is planned for the summer of 2012.

If you're more partial to open-air motoring, the 458 Spider is slated to be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor in September. Like the coupe, power will be provided by a 4.5-liter V8 engine which develops 570 PS (419 kW / 562 hp) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque.

Further down the road, a 458 Scuderia and California facelift are due in 2013 while a 458 Italia facelift is penciled in for 2014.

I think ferrari is moving way too fast. If their 458 is as fast as their enzo then the f70 is going to have to be a rocket with wheels! Where is that going to leave the f80? jet propulsion? at some point they are going to hit a performance wall where it will be tuff to make anything faster. I think ferarri will start to lose appeal, i dont know.

 M! M!
i think the difference between the 'lowly' 458 and a limited edition Enzo replacement would be the civility and brutality of these two cars. the 458 can be a very comfortable daily driver, while the true exotic hyper car should be insanely exuberant.

If the 458 lacked the Ferrari badge, it`d be called the kit-car look-a-like that it is.

Please Ferrari don't make this car similar to the 458's design and shape, make it special like the Enzo and the F50.. and NO V8 at all !!!!
