Rowan Atkinson crashes McLaren F1
Escaped with minor injuries
Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr. Bean) crashed his McLaren F1 in a high-profile accident yesterday evening.
According to local reports, the actor was driving on the A605 when he lost control, spun several times and eventually hit a signpost. The McLaren reportedly caught on fire, but emergency services arrived quickly to extinguish the blaze and bring Atkinson to the hospital. Thankfully, the actor only suffered minor injuries and should be released later today.

I'm glad to hear Rowan is ok. I don't think the F1 will buff out though.

it?s a shame but to be fair, he has owned the car for more than 10 years and put a lot miles on it. he has also been participating in some amateur races.
He is rich but he certainly isn`t one of these clueless rich morons who regularly appear in the news on here destroying their ultra rare exotics with just 500 miles on it. And the F1 is certainly one of the most difficult cars to drive. I`m glad he is ok.

@dmanero
He could have had a tyre blow, hit an animal, dodged a car coming around the corner on the wrong side of the road etc etc and had the accident. Your comments are moronic especially with no evidence of speeding.

Crashed F1 is a big loss, but nothing compares to the loss of life. Good Mr Atkinson is ok - a true car fanatic.

Fools, "How do we know he wasn't speeding" Because if he knew he was at risk of crashing his pride and joy, his 37,000miles McLaren F1, I doubt he would have been speeding, he loves the damn thing, also, the McLaren has no electronic gizmo's keeping the car stable, if he had been in a 458 Italia, he would still be driving it now, but where is the fun in that?

Great to hear that he's OK, poor F1! he liked it very much and was just talking about it in TopGear...

Thats just sad, even if he was doing 40 he can still crash just like anyone on the road today, anything is possible really

This article should state that this has happened for the second time, he previously crashed an F1 in the early 1990s, a little research goes a long way.

Atkinson F1 is chassis #061, purchased new by him in August 1997. So, it would have been difficult for his first accident to have been in the early 1990s. A little research goes a long way. ;p
Little doubt this car will be repaired again to good-as-new status by McLaren. Good on him for using it as much as he does and I'm just glad he didn't have any serious injuries.

Its a good thing Atkinson is ok but suck the beautiful F1 is wrecked. Im glad Atkinson actually drove that car compared to other owners who probably didn't drive it that much.

The No.59 McLaren in the foreground won the 1995 Le Mans 24 hour race. The Porsche Courage Team with Bob Wollek, Eric Helary and Mario Andretti had the lead throughout most of the race but Andretti spun out on the rain slick course and lost the rear wing. They lost valuable time and ended up finishing in second place - one lap behind. Third, Fourth and Fifth place also went to McLaren F1's.
