Chevy introduces the 2012 Camaro ZL1 [video]
Model's chief engineer gives us a tour of the new car
Chevrolet recently trotted out the 2012 Camaro ZL1 at the Camaro Homecoming Event in Oshawa, Ontario (Canada).
In the video posted here above, the ZL1's Chief Engineer Al Oppenheiser gives us a tour of the car and shows us items such as the new upright fog lamps and the carbon-fiber 'Mohawk' on the ZL1 bonnet, which inducts air into the engine bay.
Oppenheiser says, cagily, that the new Camaro ZL1's 6.2 liter supercharged LSA unit will come with a minimum of 550 bhp (410 kW / 557 PS) but we've seen a report that says it may be as much as 570 bhp (425 kW / 578 PS).

Did chevy really call it zed?
Maybe he watches too much Top Gear.
Anyways I like the new ZL1. And I'm a Ford guy.

Zed in Canada, Zee in US. Maybe since the event is held in Canada he thought "When in Rome..."
The Camaro is too fat and it looks like a caricature of it's self. The Shelby is a far superior car.

Started calling it "zee" but then called it "zed"...you know, the way it's supposed to be pronounced. The rest of the world gets it right, so it's good to see they're learning, slowly.

Please Mark, tell me exactly how the Shelby is so far superior than the ZL1? These cars have not been compared yet but from seeing the specs on paper. They're going to weight about the same. The Camaro has IRS, wider tires, magnetic ride control, which works great in the ZR1 and CTS-V, electric power steering and the traction control borrowed from the corvette.

You have to be retarded not to like this mean machine. This is Chevy shouting from the roof-tops! ZEEL1 sounds way better anyday in my book.

Seeing how the Camaro is doing well in sales, its only a matter of time before they come out with the Z28 to compete with the BOSS. The rivalry will be relived. You have to hand it to Ford for bringing out the BOSS. Hopefully Chevy will follow.
