Alfa Romeo 4C concept promotional video

Launches sometime next year

Alfa Romeo has released a new promotional video for the 4C concept.

Destined to go into production in 2012, the car features a carbon fiber body and a mid-mounted, turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with more than 200 PS (147 kW / 197 bhp). It is connected to a dual-clutch gearbox which enables the concept to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than five seconds and hit a top speed in excess of 250 km/h (155 mph).

I think this car can reach the performance goals set with use of lightweight construction. Plus, I think the engine will be more like 230hp. I'd be willing to bet that they will be using the 1.75L engine from the Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde. This engine has a pretty decent slug of torque too, more so than the peaky Toyota engine that is in the Lotus. The only thing I am worried about with this car is the price and that I won't be able to afford it...

Think about it, the base, non S Lotus Exige has 190 hp and it weighs 2050 lbs. It goes 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. This car is lighter and more powerful.

The car actually weighs around 1870 lbs. So under 5 seconds is very easy with just around 200 hp.

Hmm just saw the sparce plasticky interior. No leather anywhere. With CF body, maybe it is possible. Still suspect though.

With proper gearing you could do a 100PS car that in 5 sec would hit 62mph... and not much above that. And show me a stock S2000 that actually had that 240PS...

197HP and 0-62mph in less than 5 seconds? I smell SUSPECT. How light is this car? Honda S2000 with 240HP did it in about 6 seconds. For a sub-200HP car to do it in under 5, guessing it weighs about 2200lbs flat? That is Lotus Elise territory.. suspectful.

I read somewhere that Alfa Romeo are aiming for a 850kg dry weight.
