Promises to be sportier and more emotional

Lexus has announced plans to introduce the redesigned GS 350 at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on August 18th.

Previewed by the recent GS concept, the production model will have a "more defined and emotional design" with a distinctive front grille and a number of styling attributes that will carry over to future Lexus models.

While that's not much to go on, Motor Trend recently got a chance to drive a couple of prototypes and is reporting the model will ride on an all-new chassis with a sportier suspension and a wider track (up 1.6 inches front / 2.0 inches rear).

At launch, the GS will be powered exclusively by a 3.5-liter V6 engine which is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission. Further down the road, we can expect a hybrid model to be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show and an F Sport variant (with beefier brakes, a dynamic handling system and 19-inch wheels) to debut at SEMA. Sadly, the rumored GS-F seems increasingly unlikely.

Inside, the cabin is slated to feature premium leather upholstery and a massive 12.3-inch infotainment system which is controlled by a haptic mouse. Furthermore, Lexus will break from tradition and offer several new interior colors besides black, grey and beige.

You really can't find a V8 now, the 450h is faster and more readily available.
