2012 Porsche 911 (991) caught undisguised - rendering added [video]

991 Carrera prototype video shows car buzzing around the environs of Zuffenhausen, Germany

Here's a video of the upcoming 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera shot on the road near Zuffenhausen, Germany. We're not sure whether this is a cloaked Porsche production teaser or an independent spy video.

We get to hear that new Carrera sound as it is emitted from that quad-piped exhaust, although, the camera car is a Panamera Turbo (see reflection at 4:08) so one has to pay attention to make the distinction.

Also, have a look at those taillights as this blue-green metallic 991 prototype goes through the tunnel.

Our thanks to WCF member porschecarreragtmay6 for the tip and rendering!

That's like saying a football (soccer ball) and a basketball look the same. It's all in the details.

Porsche is about evolutionary design; if they find a successful formula, they don't screw with it. If you were expecting otherwise, you clicked on the wrong article.

Certainly looks promising! BTW, the camera car is a 997 C4S. ;)

I know its also a Porsche... didn't know which one, but I wasn't buying that it was a Panamera. The engine sound (and amount of it too) suggested it was something else, plus the proper manual gear change, since most Panamera's use PDK

Another big hint is that all the sound is coming from the cabin. Plus, that's unmistakably the sound of the 997.1 non-DFI engine. You can't blame WCF though, the reflection is very stretched out on the side of the 991, making it look a lot like a Panamera.

The stretched reflection makes it look like there's a back door, and the wheels look like these: http://cdn2.worldcarfans.co/2011/3/18/super/16256307482103823747.jpg But you're probably right, judging by the engine sound, it could very well be the C4S.

BTW, I just asked a guy who has seen the 991 how close the rendering comes, he says it's as close as possible...

is it just me, or does the front end of this car look like it has been crashed?

its wearing camouflage so it looks a bit 'lumpy'

You can recognize that it's not a Panamera when you have a look at the calipers. Panamera has it mounted to the front of the car, 911 has it to the back.

its probably a factory teaser because the quality of the video is exellent and if it were a spy shot, they wouldve kept filming the front. Also it says see you at Frankfurt 2011. The vehicle doesnt look like a Panamera in the reflection, at least not the turbo model.
