AMS Alpha 12 based on the Nissan R35 GT-R makes 1,300 HP [video]
American tuner turns the GT-R into a serious drag racer which does the quarter-mile (402 meters) in 9 seconds flat
This Nissan R35 GT-R has been tuned by AMS Performance and turned into a serious drag racer.
Power?
How about 1,309 bhp (976 kW / 1327 PS) 995 lb-ft (1347 Nm) of torque.
Torque elasticity?
No problem.
The AMS Alpha 12 goes from 60 to 130 mph (96.5 km/h to 209 km/h) in 3.46 seconds.
The car also does the quarter-mile in just 9.0 seconds which is...hold on a sec...402 meters. By then the car is going 166 mph (267 km/h).
It's a treat too to see all four wheels burning rubber and AMS's test driver reports that the tires were spinning up to fourth gear and full-traction was only reached in fifth.

Speed, pure acceleration and speed. Have you never been in a drag race, it's a complete rush and in something such as this beast, it is even more so (can't wait to get back on the strip once my car is ready again).

Drag racing is weak compared to top end racing, aka Wangan, due to the driver skill being low in drag and must be high in Wangan.

Yes I have drag raced, I used to be good friends with one of the Top drag racers in the UK. If you do drag race, then you will know that one of the most important things isnt having the power, its getting the power down. this thing lights the tyres up in all the gears til 5th. No traction = slow 1/4's. I believe that with less power, this car would be quicker, so... I stand by my comment.

Somewhere I have a picture of another friends (RIP George) Pontiac GTO leaving the line with the front wheels in the air (that car was road legal!) power + traction = best 1/4 mile times.

You can heear the tires going "Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouch Ouch..."
So how much for such madness?

It's all good and well to have that much power IF your on a drag strip but on the street, its way too much. hell any thing over 600hp is too much for the street.

what about the tranny? i want to know the 0-60 time on this beast. amazing stuff!

i see the exhaust spitting smoke between 1st to 2nd gear...anti lag?

That's nothing TBH. Take a look at the 9FF GTurbo 997 - 1200BHP - It'll do 150-300KM/H in 4.2 Seconds.
That's insane.
This is really sad - 1300HP and the best you can get is a 9 second quarter???
July 20, 2011 11:26 am
150-300 km/h in 4.2 sec? Do you know what you are talking about? Then this car would go to 300km/h in under 8 sec. Hahahaha...a Veyron SS needs about 15 sec!
July 20, 2011 12:47 pm
the 9ff and GTR are two diffrent classes. Plus the GTR weight a lot more. The 9FF has major mods done to it and well really isn't a 997 anymore as the Body was extended.

As I said above, this car has too much power, the chassis can't cope... no traction = no acceleration.

The car still weighs in the 3,000+ so 9 seconds are great and it could go lower with slicks and lighter weight. Awesome street vehicle with AC/MP3/Navigation

Wow, that is FAST! Only question now is-which will grenade first, trans or center diff?
July 20, 2011 1:43 pm
And the moral of the story is? ...the more you heat them tires, the faster you go.

WCF, its 1309AWHP not BHP. The drivetrain losses are at least ten percent so more like 1500ish BHP :)
July 20, 2011 1:56 pm
I can't believe that the drivetrain didn't end up all over the track!
July 20, 2011 3:12 pm
yeah, this beast is still heavy... it could've run faster with a little more weight reduction job....or maybe taking care or the traction department better

At the end of the day we can say what we like, but how about we congratulate the technicians at AMS, they've produced a monster of a drag racer. To all the haters out there, you build a 9 sec car and then challenge AMS to a race! Don't "sing it", BRING IT!!!
