Jay Leno picks up his new McLaren MP4-12C [video]

The comedian went to the McLaren Technology Centre in Working, United Kingdom for delivery of his latest McLaren

Jay Leno just recently tested the new SLS AMG Roadster but he apparently has opted to buy something else for himself.

The comedian and long-time host of the Tonight Show (minus a brief and controversial stint away) went to the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Britain to pick up his new McLaren MP4-12C.

Leno gets to see how the cars are built and certified while also having a chance to drive his new car as it was made to be driven - on the McLaren test track.

Of course, Leno being who he is, always has only nice things to say about all the cars he drives. Even the ones he doesn't buy for himself. He prefers to save his jabs for the likes of sexually errant politicians or Charlie Sheen.

But Leno is an honest car lover, and that comes easily across in the video here.

Jay doesnt own or drive a Ferrari. The whole world media including UK's topgear, evo and autocar said the mcLaren is a dog to drive. Mclaren is doing its damage control by getting cheap publicity. With that price tag, I could have a regular GT3 and a GTR at the same time.

UK top gear never said it was dog to drive. The praised the handling. Take that porsche fanboy cap off once in a while.

They still prefer the Ferrari, then again who cares what Topgear people says it is an entertainment english car show that tend to be biased towards english cars. Fifthgear reviews or judgement is more spot on. At least Porsches performs better. Mclaren is just a dissapointment, bring gordon murray back

Lucky bastard! I would sell a kidney for either this or the 458. Lessons on how to drive this car is probably a good idea. Looks like this car might require its own technique to extract the most performance from the TC and brake steer system.

He doesn't own any Ferrari's because he knows they fall apart after 10k miles, and as he states in this article he doesn't need to be flashy just like he doesn't need a trophy wife with a fake tan and fake boobs. http://www.wired.com/autopia/2011/07/jay-leno-on-buying-his-mclaren/ Another journalist from Australia managed a track time of 1:19.4 with a passenger on board and he did not know the track even after numerous laps of testing and he was no stig either. Chris Goodwin the test driver for McLaren knew the 12C would beat anything on the Top Gear list that had a roof and doors. Nurburgring time will prove even more what the car is really capable of.

i hate the fact he was driving round in auto mode... i mean come on! also, i didnt realise that someone with as many nice cars, and as much affection for automobiles could be such a lame driver... that was pretty terrible.

I agree. I bet he is terrified as he has never seen so many corners in a single track.
