Volkswagen Golf VI design sketch

2013 Golf will have a sportier design and be more different in dimensions to a bulkier Golf Plus variant

VW is promising a sportier Golf model for the Mk7 generation of the classic hatch.

The 2013 Volkswagen Golf will come with a steeper windshield, wider track and lower roof-line compared to the current model. On the inside, the new instrument panel and center console will be more angled towards the driver in a sports car-like design.

In contrast, the Golf Plus variant will become a bulkier and more competitive 5-seater people-mover along the lines of the Ford C-Max.

According to Autocar, VW also intends to make the 3-door variant different and sportier from the 5-door hatch Golf, but it won't be as extreme a variation as the standard 5-door Astra hatchback and Opel/Vauxhall Astra GTC.

The next-generation VW Golf is slated for launch in the middle of 2012.

In the meantime I'll go for the Astra GTC. It is as good as the Golf, beautiful and available now.

'm afraid sleeker means cheaper. VW VII will be a bigger Polo, that's all. the downsizing trend also means cheaper and cheaper cars (of course, plenty of electronic toys will be scatered all around to fool the buyer's attention from the only thing that really matters: the car itself).
