2013 BMW 3-Series GT spied on the 'ring' for the first time
3-Series GT will debut next year as part of the next-generation 3er range
Here are the latest spy shots of the 2013 BMW 3-Series GT. This time our spy photographers caught the upcoming Gran Turismo 3er doing some testing on the Nürburging-Nordschleife for the first time.
The prototype spotted here is still under heavy camouflage but in the background of some of the shots we also get a less-disguised standard 2012 3-Series for comparison. Noticeable is how the GT rides much higher than the standard 3er trailing behind it.
BMW likely hopes that the 3-Series GT will be a more successful variant to the 3er than the 5-Series Gran Turismo has been for the 5er range.
We expect the next-generation 3-Series to debut later this year with the GT variant following in 2012.

Did anyone see the documentary on BMW last night??? (I live in the US on the east coast) It was decent... I thought it was funy when one of bmw's execs or designers blatantly came out and said Infinity, Lexus and Acura are more reliable cars then BMW. Its like wow, at least your honest, but i don't know if that was the best forum to be honest at. They also took some shots at Audi which were hilarious... "Plagiarism is the most genuine form of flattery"..LOL If you havent seen it they will air it again at least 10 times before months end...

Looks to be more of an Audi A4 Allroad and Volvo V70 rival than an A5 sportback. I thought the X1 covered the former two.

I thought they had learned their lesson after the 5 series GT. It looks ugly too.

BMW did learn their lesson with the 5GT, that is why they are coming out with the 3GT. 5GT might be odd looking, but it does pretty well in the market place, with the exception of North America. Old school Saab customers will like a 3GT.

30 years later BMW re-creates the 1983 AMC Eagle. If you don't believe me check out the pics at cargurus.com. This is too funny!

Ooh my. This has the potential to be bad, real bad. No one will be caught driving, or plagiarizing this, that's for sure.

Why BMW...why?
Why do you have to continously embaress yourselves with such loads of crap like the 5 series GT, E60, 1 Series, 2 Series, X1 and now this abomination called the 3 Series GT?

The only real Problem with the 5GT was its rear design. The concept was really good and It is actually a very good car to drive and live with every day. If 3 GT can fix the ugly rear design of 5GT, it might actually sell well, It will be a lot cheaper as well.(5GT sells pretty well in China, I'm from China and I see at least 1 a day.)

That's true, the 5GT has a great interior as well. I hope this looks better though, and if BMW are going to be introducing a 4WD option to their cars it would make sense to start with the GT's.

BMW has gone a little niche-market mental. The 5erGT is a dud and fixing the ugly rear end is no simple task without re-engineering/designing half of the car. The praise bestowed on it's interior is unwarranted - it is suitable quality relative to the price of the car and in no way superior to it's german rivals.
