Renault Clio Williams special edition under consideration - report
Renault Clio Gordini 200 - 02.03.2010

Could feature 240 hp

According to a recent report, Renault and the Williams racing team are cooking up a special edition Clio.

Speaking with Auto Express, an unnamed spokesperson said "We don't want to pollute the [Renault and Williams] tie-up with simply a marketing exercise - you can rest assured it will be something suitably uprated from the standard car."

That also sounds rather promising and the magazine says we can expect a sport-tuned suspension, beefier brakes and a naturally-aspirated 2.0-liter engine with approximately 240 bhp (179 kW / 243 PS). Additionally, the interior is slated to feature Recaro seats, automatic climate control, GPS navigation and special badging.

If everything goes as expected, the Clio Williams could be launched sometime next year as a final send off for the current Renaultsport 200.

"We don't want to pollute the [Renault and Williams] tie-up with simply a marketing exercise..." Well then, prove that you mean it and show us the goods. We do not want to see another Gordini color-me-up spoof.

And like the previous generation Megane and the run-out R edition, the next RS Clio will be quicker than this stripped out special edition. Anybody with any sense would save their money and wait for the all new car.
