2012 Porsche 911 Targa caught with open top
Retracting roof on upcoming next-generation 911 Targa shown in action
Here are the first spy shots available of the upcoming 2012 Porsche 911 Targa.
Contrary to a previous report, this alleged Targa prototype is sporting the usual retractable roof that backs over the rear glass, which we get to see partially open in the photos published here. Or perhaps this is the standard Carrera with the panoramic sunroof option?
The most recently reported specs say the next-generation 2012 Porsche 911 will be coming with a 7-speed manual gearbox.
Sounds like more fun is in store for 911 fans.

looks like it'll still have a big sunroof instead of a proper targa roof.. :(

my guess is, it`s not the targa, it?s the carrera with a new panorama roof.

..which is essentially what a targa is. leave it to porsche to offer a panoramic roof as an option but charge a couple grand more and give it its own model designation. but i'm not complaining..997 targas were beautiful with their unique chrome accented greenhouse profiles. i'd have one helluva time deciding between a turbo and a well modded targa 4s.

the 991 carrera is reported to get a big panorama glass sunroof, i could be wrong but i still think this is just carrera. The targa will be released later on (1-2 years later)

i think this is just the sunroof, or like catchyshadow says a glass one, pretty sure this isn't the targa...

I wonder how many more years will the classical design of 911 last. sooner or later they will have to make a major breakthrough.

Like others have said, this is not the Targa. This is just a Carrera with the optional panoramic sun roof.

if we take a closer look to teamspeed and to inside line we can see that this opening window is the opening roof option...
