Lexus LFA with N?rburgring Package clocks 7:22 with minimal effort [video]
10th place for the fastest production vehicle
Leading up to this past weekend's ADAC 24 hour race at Nürburgring, Lexus took their hot LFA Nürburgring Edition and ran an exhibition hot lap.
Driven by Gazoo Racing's Akira Iida, the team driver/manager clocked an impressive 7:22.85 putting it in 10th place for the fastest production vehicle to attack the extreme circuit.
According to LexusEnthusiasts.com this video was on display at the Nürburgring 24h race alongside the LFA Nürburgring Edition. Furthermore, the lap in the video was carried out for exhibition purposes only - essentially a warm up.
A full fledged attempt will be made in a few months, so an even faster time is expected.
Thanks to Shiro for the tip!

Really hope it gets in the top 5. Just so it wasn't an entirely wasted effort by Toyota/Lexus in the first place.

Six digit price, special N?rburgring edition and still beat by a Vette.

are you out of you mind? read the article before you comment... "warm up". chill your american soul up

There are plenty of other supercars beaten by Vette, so you can say it's not the LFA slow, but Vette magnificently fast.

Says the loser to his competitor: "Ya bro, I was just warming up!". I bet they just finished eating and would do better later when the food was digested. Maybe he was steering with his left hand when he usually uses his right. Perhaps excuses are like...... Nevermind.

guys don't compare this car to a Vette please. This is a luxurious car with a good interior, a pretty good exterior (not for some of course) and a good performance. The Vette is just a bad quality very fast car. So it's not the same category...
June 27, 2011 12:11 pm
The Vette is in the cheaper, better engineered, faster catagory. When will people realise that in order to keep costs down they have to skimp on the interior. If you ask many they put the money where it matters most, on the hard components, suspension, brakes. Then they cut a few corners so that people, regular people can actually afford it. If you want the nice interior, save the $100,000 you save by purchasing the Vette and put your own custom interior.

@B_M_Gearhead, part of the high price of the LFA is the fact that 65% of its body structure is carbon fiber-reinforced polymer with alloy braces supporting the engine and suspension, and of course its also a low volume car (only 20 produced a month).

It's like when I watch videos on Jay Lenos Garage, it's so cringeworthy when he brings on an American manufacturer and the products are usually simple and boring or just cheap/nasty looking. Check out the piece on watches, it's embarrassing. Same with American supercars that prop up on there, they're lame and never go into production. All you guys talk about is the Vette. It won't be around forever...wonder what the replacement will be.
Also, INTERIORS ARE PRETTY F*CKING IMPORTANT to performance car buyers unless it's an outright track car.

Shumy, I m sorry man but your comments are always showing a bias against certain cars and that's sad. I say we should all appreciate the exclusive Lexus engineering as well as the amazing speed and handling of the Corvette. After all the Corvette was the Z06 not the faster ZR1 and its time was done but a Chevy engineer not a professional racing driver. Oh and the Vette, not a cheap quality car man, inside or out.

I'm sorry, it appears that my playful banter has upset a few fanboys. Talk all you want about carbon fiber monocoque chassis's. It was still beaten by a pushrod engine powered, leaf sprung suspension, fiberglass bodied, sub $100,000 vehicle..... With a nice interior. And what do you mean the vette won't be around forever? It has a lineage going back to 1953, where is it going? How long has Lexus been on the sport car scene?
June 28, 2011 10:40 pm
PAA of course my comments are showing some bias against some cars. When I love a car I say it and when i don't same... Do you really like all of the cars?
by the way I didn't say I don't like the Vette. I said: "The Vette is just a bad quality very fast car" which is the truth. I think it is a nice car for people who don't want to spend a lot to get a supercar.

factory times, no matter which carmaker claims them, cannot be trusted as long as they aren`t verified by independent testers, period.
June 27, 2011 12:12 pm
i know right, they have to show a video or something...wait, what!! they have proof! omg!...aka stfu
June 27, 2011 2:28 pm
eww, it?s not the video that is in doubt, it`s the car and its set up. who guarantees for the car being bone stock? exactly, nobody!
June 27, 2011 2:59 pm
as scratchy said, u are a naive. check out the internet there are lots of discussions, how many carmakers are cheating on the Nordschleife.
carmakers would do anything to trump other carmaker?s records on the N?rburgring. it?s the best promotion, sales argument for a sportscar and the sportiness of a brand. independent testers/race drivers weren`t able to clock times anywhere near those factory claimed records of cars like the ZR1, GT-R. most of the pro drivers and cars were 15 seconds and more slower than those "marvellous" records! even the time that the GT2-RS clocked is in doubt at the moment, cause till now the best laptimes of independent testers with the new GT2RS are 6,7 seconds slower than the claimed 7:18.
June 28, 2011 4:37 am
i'm sure that a guy that has been testing a car throughout its whole development and knows it like the back of his hand, meaning he knows its limits, will race the car much faster than an independent driver who just gets the car for a few hours.

The LF-A is a great car. Even with its high price still cheaper than those stupid new supercars with $500k+ and a ZR1 engine. I'm sure it can lap the ring much faster than this time. Lexus has done really great job with this car. If they can tweak the engine and squeez 50 more HP it will be even better.
June 27, 2011 12:47 pm
the LF-A has been put in its place on the 24h Nordschleife, same with the GT-R. where was their greatness there? the 1st LF-A finnished at position #42 (almost 4 hours behind the winner, the GT3 RSR), the 2nd at position #151.
even Z4s and Sciroccos were faster and more reliable than both!
June 27, 2011 2:58 pm
You are comparing modfied cars. I think this LF-A is a production model with a special package. The LF-A is a pretty special car that any car guy can appreciate.
June 27, 2011 5:14 pm
i am sorry, but this car is meant to be driven on the track, esp. with a "n?rburgring package" and i cannot see why this should be more reliable than the LF-As that failed to deliver in the race on sunday.
June 27, 2011 5:33 pm
Haha, didn't know that! Great news. I love to see the car that killed it's creator fail...
June 27, 2011 6:44 pm
All those GT3 RSRs, LFAs and GTRs at the Nurburgring, GT1, GT3 etc. are far from production versions. Racing is much more different than producing cars. See Formula 1 where some Red Bulls and Browns win Ferrari and Mercedes. Same in the World Rally where Citroens, Peugeots and other bullshit outpace STIs and Evos, while in production car category even 1992 EVO 1 will rape any production citroen or peugeot with ease. So if you judge by looking at who wins the races, go get your self a Citroen, or Red Bull (at least you can drink it lol)
June 28, 2011 11:11 am
It's slower than the Vette because it didn't have track spec slick tires.
June 28, 2011 4:32 am
The vette's time were set with street legal tyres that are offered on the production vehicle.
June 28, 2011 2:24 pm
If I could buy this car I would but what kind of idot would spend over $300,000.00 upfront for a car that is only a lease ! Sorry but I'd rather buy a corvette or one of this cars competitors since I can buy them and actualy own the car not being able to own this car is rip-off . I don't lease cars so I would never have this car . What a joke . Atleast you can buy a corvette unlike the owners of this car who are only leasing it .
