Hyundai Veloster to spawn five-door variant - report
Playing it safe
In a recent interview, Hyundai's Manager of Overseas Product Planning, Eunjoo Shin, revealed the company is developing a Veloster with a traditional five-door body style.
While this sounds a tad peculiar, Hyundai could be hedging their bets in case consumers balk at the current model's four-door arrangement which has two normal doors, a tiny third door (on the passenger side) and a rear hatch.
No word on when the new variant will be released, but expect to learn more in the coming months.

I like the car the way it is. I really like the colors that have chosen for it and I hope that keep they make wheels standard.

When the car was first launched, people baulked at its quirky door arrangement. I think Hyundai is doing things boldly despite the company's conservative leadership. It goes to show they are willing to accept change as and when necessary.
However, I think the public still is a conservative and pragmatic lot, hence such a decision was made. I hoped Hyundai would continue to progress in a controversial fashion as long as possible. It made people rethink what made a Hyundai a unique proposition.

it better not sell. "the nerve" on hyundai to retail this car starting from 20k euros (29k dolars). that's almost bmw 1er, audi a3 teritory. still it's a hyundai, so they should really cut down those prices if they want to sell.

Will there be a 3-door version a few months later, y'know, just so they COMPLETELY undo the point of this car?

I have a picture (albeit bad) of the 5 door variant. I live near the Hyundai / Kia design & testing center. How can I post it?
