First 2013 Jaguar XE mules spied on the road
Upcoming Jaguar XE is a new compact, two-seater sports car based on the XK model which will compete against the 911
Here are some of the first spy shots available of the upcoming 2013 Jaguar XE - the British marque's new baby sports model.
This prototype mule is riding on a shortened chassis and body from the XK. The XE will be offered as both a coupe and cabriolet model, and it's a cabrio we've spotted here today.
Details are still sketchy on the XE, but we expect it to be a two-seater and priced competitively with the Porsche 911, the model it aims to compete against. Given the long Jag nose, it will sport a mid-front engine mounting for performance handling.
The XE is also expected to be fitted with a V6 engine in at least two configurations, one naturally-aspirated and one supercharged. Output levels will be competitive with Cayman and 911 models.

Perhaps we could be looking at the E-type successor! Till to this date, Tata has managed the English car marque business well. Looking forward to the car's official release.

Boring. It is just a shortened two seater XK. It is going to look like an ageing AMV8. The Weissman on the other hand looks like a proper jag.

Jag at some point have to come up with a new E-type but i think they are to scared to make the move in case they ruin the most amazing car ever greated. The XE is a half hearted attemt. COME ON....................

I agree. Their recent supercar concept was brilliant. They should emulate BMW's Z4 that really captures BMW roadster's heritage. I hope this car will share Z4's beautiful long nose porportions and do not have a strong resemblances of the E or any family of the current jaguars and aston martins. Back then, every jaguar looks different, the XK120, E type, Mk2, XJ and yet they're all uniquely Jaguar. Today's jaguar is very german and i am not against bmw, merc, audi, vw or porsche. Try and put some emotional appeal and not aggression. Please make jaguars beautiful again!

To be honest I associate Jags with elegence more than performance and would rather have a beautiful Jag than a really fast one.

Jaguar: Profits are up, Sales in emerging markets are up, Investments are up, X-type replacement and crossover is not far away..
Ford must be gutted now that they sold the jad to TATA
It seems TATA knows how to look afther car manufactuars

Tata already had some well-known British brands in their portfolio including Tetley Tea. Therefore, taking care of Jaguar/Land Rover came 'naturally' for the Indian auto mogul. The compact dimensions are easy to spot, but can it be even better than Aston's AMV8 to have a fighting chance of being a bonafide rival to the benchmark 911? We shall see, but great move for Jaguar.
