Maserati SUV to feature a HEMI engine - report

Would likely produce 465 hp (347 kW / 471 PS)

According to a recent report, the upcoming Maserati SUV will feature a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine from the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Top Gear says the crossover will adopt the HEMI as part of a cost cutting move to make the model more profitable. While this seems plausible, Sergio Marchionnne has previously stated the SUV would have a Ferrari-sourced engine.

Regardless, the British magazine says we can also expect a 3.0-liter V6 diesel with 241 PS (177 kW / 237 hp) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque.

The Maserati SUV is slated to be launched sometime next year, so stay tuned for official details.

bad engine, bad design (if it looks like the kubang)...The engine is used by the Jeep srt which is a non quality, cheap SUV (compared to the cars like Cayenne, X6-X5, ML etc...) while this is a Maserati. The fact that exclusive brands like this trying to be "competitive" kills me

Looks like a Chrysler, and they're soon to carry Chrysler engines according to WCF (if they don't already)...how unfortunate, I realy used to like Maserati.

This thing is going to hit it's target market dead-center in the bullseye. All six italianophile rednecks in America are going to spill cioppino on their chin-mullets when they finally get a chance to buy one.

Why complain about the way this SUV looks when this isn't the new Maserati SUV but an old SUV concept and we haven't seen what the actual production vehicle will look like or even seen a concept of it yet . I'd be willing to bet that a Ferrari sourced V8 will be avaiable in the top of the line model of this SUV .

Love the engine possibility, otherwise it looks crap! Rover 25 at the rear, Porsche mentality at the front (lets just graft a standard car nose onto it).

This is a concept car from 2003, so the upcoming Maserati SUV will probably look nothing like this

to bad, the Kubang never went for sale. I really love this conception. It's so incredible nice and I see it as a really outstanding designed car without similarities to other brands. Sorry guys, your overstatements are just annoying. about the engine. To bad, the Ferrari-power fitted the latest Maserati very well. But I hope for an input of an unique character of Maserati-models in the future.
