2012 BMW F10 M5 on the track [video]

Video provides a glimpse of what the new F10 M5 can do on a track

Here is the first video available featuring the new 2012 BMW F10 M5 undisguised and unhinged on a track.

Shot somewhere in one of Europe's warmer climates, the M5 here shows what it can do. A few shots from inside the cabin give you a sense of speed of how the powerful sedan can munch through those curves on the circuit.

The 2012 BMW F10 M5 comes with a 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 that produces 560 PS (412 kW / 552 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission is a seven-speed M Double Clutch gearbox. The new M5 accelerates from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in 13.0 seconds and has an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) which can be bumped up to 305 km/h (190 mph) with the M Driver's Package.

"Shot somewhere in one of Europe's warmer climates (...)" south of spain, Ascari Race Resort... the new 5-series a litle bit tedious...

I am surprised this M5 doesn't do 205 mph than the previous M5 e60. So far this M5 looks bland & not aggressive.

definitely the new m5 does more than 205mph.the M Driver's Package has still a limiter to 190mph.the 190mph isnt its top speed

chris25: You mean 305 km/h (190 mph). Standard speed: Electronically limited to 250 km/h (155 mph) M Driver's Package: 305 km/h (190 mph) I think this is the best M5 so far... Tom43: Are you sure this car weights 2 tonnes? Anybody has the technical specs for this car? and I think it is much better looking than the E63 AMG.

Hanssolo58: The BMW site says the weight is 1945kg for F10 M5.

Chris25, completely agree this M5 and 5 series can easy pass for 7 series with its soft and bland curves. I expected the front of an M5 to be completely redesigned to give it more agrresdive look but the M- division decided that a bodykit will do.

No M5 ever got a complete frontal redo. They've always been fairly restrained bodykits.Patr of the appeal of the M5 has always been the "wolf in sheep skin" appearance. For more aggression you can always go to the excellent ACS, Hamann, or, if you have no taste, Mansory.

I'm sure it'll be a great car, but I think M Division have missed a trick here. It could easily be mistaken for a 520d M Sport

a bump from E39 M5 to E60 M5 was more than 100hp...now F10 is 60hp power bump...but now for the first time comes the M5 CSL/GTS with 600hp and AWD and plenty of more agressive looks! and that would demolish RS6 and E63 AMG Performance package!

Not so big power bump, but not so much difference in weight 80-100 kilos compared to E60. However the new engine has massive torque which should make difference.

i was a huge fan of the previous M5.. it was so radically different from any other 5er.. but this i'm afraid looks very similar to a 520d with an M-bodykit regardless of the performance gains..

I don't know why everybody is complaining about the new BMW design. Everyone is saying that BMW's all look the same these days. Have you all forgotten that BMW's design language alway used to be similar with every model. And not even one single BMW M5 had a complete redesigned front. They always had a bodykit. And they were all exclusive and sporty. I love BMW since I was born and the new design language is absolutely fantastic in every single way!

@Thunderbird: Totally true. The car looks good and the difference to the standard models is comparable to E60, E39 and E34. Its problem is its high weight, reaching 2000kg!

Beautiful car, but I also hope for the many other editions like the E92 M3.

Don't worry too much about weight and i'll allude to the GTR on that. And if you read the column on the Megane RS doing one over the 1 M, it is further proof that a quick lap in the Nurburgring would benefit from some fwd action. At the expense of some fun? Perhaps
