2012 Volkswagen Cross Passat Variant spied for first time
Cross Passat variant rides on a raised chassis and features 4Motion all-wheel drive
These are the first spy shots of the upcoming 2012 Volkswagen Cross Passat.
This Cross Passat prototype was spied conducting some testing in Germany and we can see the car is riding on a raised chassis and features some matte black paneling around the bottom of the car beneath that camo. The wheel arches also appear to be widened.
The Cross Passat variant will come with Volkswagen's 4Motion all-wheel drive technology and will likely be coupled to the range's higher-output engine variants such as the 2.0 liter TDI with 125 kW / 170 PS (167 bhp) and the 2.0 TFSI with 155 kW / 211 PS (207 bhp).

The Passat B7 wagon isn't new in any way - the roads here in Europe are already littered with it. I've even driven it myself. So why do you reckon they'd bother to mask this car if it's just a plain old wagon?

VW do the same with the outgoing Passat B6 like BMW with the 1 Series .. 1er gets "M Version" in the last moment when the new model has been already released. And Passat B6 was released in 2005, got a facelift in 2010 and in 2012 still a new version for 1 year ? strange idea

ummm....The 'Facelift' is actually B7.... so your theory is inconsistent...
