Roger Federer tests the 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG [video]
Tennis star enjoys one of the perks of his professional standing in test-driving the upcoming Mercedes-Benz supercar
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster is not yet available but one of the perks of being a tennis star is that you can get asked to drive one ahead of its showroom launch.
In this video we are privy to Swiss tennis champion Roger Federer's expert opinion on the car (expert by means of being rich enough to afford one).
The surround landscape outside of Dubai here is also worth noting. Yes, you would want to drive on those pristine desert roads, wouldn't you?
The gentleman athlete likely even gets paid for this. But perhaps that's not consolation enough for his loss at the French Open over the weekend.

Aaah the internet, the only place where a 13 year old living in his mom's basement can call a multimillionaire successful athlete a loser.

if he's an athelete chances are he will lose and rightfully called a loser and not a winner, he did lose to Nadal this past weekend at Roland Garros...so it's fair to call him a loser, just as much as any Barcelona fan may call a Man United losers... you guys are uptight ...

Sad thing is he probably doesn't even care if you called him a loser.
So why waste your time and abuse your keyboard typing such silly things?

Roger is class, as said before the best tennis player ever. he is like an artist and seeing him in this car makes it more desireable to me.

Awesome car driven by a seriously cool guy. Judging by the background, it seems like they filmed this video in Dubai??

Cool cat but I wonder if his loss yesterday has anything to do with this video... Traumatic merc experience, perhaps?

Its an awesome car, even the hardtop, but being Mercedes, there isn't enough distinction in performance and desirability to their lesser AMGs so I would say until they make a truly bespoke 'supercar' with a bespoke engine, its hard to give up 168k pounds for one of these babies

Pfft greatest tennis player of all time is a bit of an overstatement. Maybe of the decade, Jimmy Connors is up there, or Pete Sampras would probably be very high on that list.

Saying Roger Federer is a loser is a ridiculous thing to say, he is a great ambassador for the sport of tennis and hugely successful. I am however a huge tennis fan and think that Nadal is much better than Federer (17-8 head to head record). The Merc is a great car though and Federer has a great life. Fair play to him, he deserves it.
