Supercharged Corvette Z06 vs. Koenigsegg CCXR [video]

Drag race pits two horsepower-healthy supercars against each other - one Swedish and one American

Here's a video from Drag Times pitting a 700 PS (515 kW / 690 bhp) supercharged Chevrolet Corvette Z06 against a 1,024 PS (753 kW / 1010 bhp) Koenigsegg CCXR.

Despite the predictable outcome, it's safe to say that a single race between these two opponents is hardly definitive. However, for all of you horsepower happy spec crunchers, it's a good example of how horsepower is only one ingredient of the whole recipe.

Perhaps, under different conditions, and a better setup (e.g. lower tire pressure, better tires) the CCXR is fully capable of obliterating the ZO6. But in the video it looks like the CCXR cannot get all of that horsepower down to the ground effectively in addition to having a bad reaction time to the light tree.

las year i saw a drag between a 800 ps GTR and a veyron. the veyron lost. but it was obvious from the video that they guy in veyron was an imbecile. he didnt even had the car in sport, nevertheless having good reactions to the light tree and....other stuff. the russian dag times are smply stupid. drivers are not pro, nothing is standardized, nothing is scientific. anyone who has money can show up wit their car and race.

Both of these drivers suck. That vette should be in the low 11s eventhough it looks slightly damp, that Koeniggsegg should be high 10s. Looking at the strip though it looks quite bumpy so probably none of them gave it their all. I mean a stock Z06 should get that time. I've heard of ZR1s with semi-slick tires breaking 11s mark. They should do an aftermath video where the guy with the CCXR is getting a lapdance from 2 russian chicks and the guy with the vette is reassembling his dash.

Guys RELAX. What you pay for a car is not reflected in power or speed. Its mostly the uniqueness to stand out. No the Koenigsegg is not worth its money compared to a Corvette or a GTR but it will help you stand out from the crowd. Unfortunately we humans are that stupid.

This koenigsegg looks the same one top gear reviewed in 2006 I think and it has 850HP. But the koenigsegg driver started after the Z06. Ok the Corvette is a fast car but look what an 800HP Switzer GTR did to a tuned 750HP ZR1! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uORyZI1VdU and the Impressive thing is that we know the GTR weighs almost 180 kg more and in this video a passenger is sitting next to the driver! I want to see Americans doing drag race between a tuned GTR and a tuned Z06 without doing the same crap Hennessey do.

This is like comparing a rolex to a swatch. u can pimp the swatch but u will never have the feeling u get wearing a rolex.

Do you sell cars for a living? Pretty good sales pitch if you ask me. You should really be into sales, lingerie at the least.

That statement sums it up right there. At the end of the day, there will always be something faster, but exclusivity has a price and evokes far greater emotion.

I'm sure this is the only one time ccxr miss the race.. But Americans have to take advantage of this video.

the ccxr makes 1000HP ONLY when its on bio fuel. So maybe it was on normal fuel so the engine was not on full power.

Very strange. At those HP figures the ETs should have been in the low 11s. 10s even w/ a good hook-up. I've seen stock ZR1s do high 10s. Despite the traction issues, the Koenigsegg should have had higher trap speeds (and closed the gap more by the mile mark) if the HP advantage is to believed. Not to mention mid-engine traction advantages. I don't recall CCXR's weight but I suspect it's low like an Ulitame Aero or something (around 2800lbs).

From the specs of the Corvette that has to be a ZR1 not a Z06

You can purchase an Edelbrock supercharger kit for a Z06 for $8,000 dollars, with a warranty, 50 state legal and installed in one weekend. That brings total price for this car up to around $75,000. Considering a Koenigsegg costs $650,000 this is a sad reminder that your simply paying more for a longer name.
