2012 Chevy Impala leaked
Facelifted Chevrolet Impala gets a new 3.6 liter DOHC V6 power plant and a new mesh grille
These images of the upcoming 2012 Chevrolet Impala were taken from the GM Car & Truck Guide found on the GM Fleet website.
Details are still few but the facelifted Impala gets a new 3.6 liter DOHC V6 engine that is (E85) Flex-Fuel capable. No output details were published in the guide, but since the current 2011 Impala comes with a 3.5 liter OHV unit with 211 bhp (157 kW / 214 PS) and 216 lb-ft (293 Nm) of torque, there may be a modest power boost.
Transmission will be a six-speed automatic and the new Impala gets that cool mesh grille too.
The real upgrade will likely come with the next-generation Impala due in 2014.

I just wish that they would make a real performance oriented Impala . Please GM make a real performance oriented Impala for all the true Impala faithful . I guess my next Impala will have to be a 96 ss instead of a new Impala .Sad very sad .

What the...it needs to go back to the drawing board! It looks like a design from their yesteryear '90s portfolio.

correct... a totally bland car with absolutely no personality what so ever in this whole "new" design... and BTW, are they still using the leaf spring suspension front and rear? :D... cause it looks like the cars that were made in the "ancient times" when this suspension was the standard...

I cannot understand you Americans. With cars like the CTS and 300 how can you buy this boring 90's looking car for such a small price difference?

honestly why is this car made? Are they used for cop cars? are they made for the elderly?

Wow, that looks very dated. Has Chevrolet's design team been living under a rock for the past 2 decades?

exactly what i expect from chevrolet. a dated, boring and cheap car.

It's turning into a lincoln town car or a Ford Crown Vic, at least it looks a bit like them.
But seriously? 211 horsepower out of a 3.5 Liter? That is almost wasteful. I know you can do better than that GM. Put a Vette Z06 engine in it. That would be better than this.

at least you got it right. where are these other guys getting the idea that the 3.6 v6 makes only 211hp? "but since the current 2011 Impala comes with a 3.5 liter OHV unit with 211 bhp (157 kW / 214 PS) and 216 lb-ft (293 Nm) of torque, there may be a modest power boost." the article clearly states that such a lowly power output was from the 3.5 ohv v6. the 3.6 v6 in other gm cars (like the traverse) makes around 286hp.
that said, the impala is still a terrible car. but i guess cheap sells too.

if people keep on buying these cars, GM has a right to produce. This is how the system works.

They can't be serious. This must be a prank picture. Have they learned NOTHING?
