Jaguar to adopt alphanumeric monikers - report
Move aims to reduce confusion
According to a recent report, Jaguar will adopt a new alphanumeric naming system.
Speaking with Autocar, the company's global brand director said "If you know us, you understand our badging. Otherwise it's confusing."
It's unclear if this will be a wholesale change or just an addition of numbers to the current names, but we won't see the revised structure for a few more years.

Nobody cares about the names of the cars. The problem is that they look like luxury versions of the Ford Mondeo and not like Jags.

It matters. I think Cadillac's gains would be compromised if they were selling an El Dorado versus a CTS coupe.

It would be a shame to lose the classic XJ XK names if a wholesale change is made. I doubt they will go. Merely be augmented.

Jaguar has had a pretty substantial history of alphanumeric names for vehicles. This is kind of a return to its roots if anything.

i like the classic alphanumeric names: XK140, XJR-15, XJ-220.
didn't care much about S-Type R, XKR-S.
but then again, i like the Double Six, Daimler Vanden Plas, Soverign.

I thought the car makes a 'name' for itself...we only remember the 'names' of 'good' cars. Unless you can tell me a car with a 'good' name but is crap car.

why get rid of the XK and XJ? theyre classic Jaguar names. Besides, Jaguar DID use numbers. Remeber the XK8 XJ6 and XJ8?

they should just bring numbers in
XF4,XF6,XF8 for the standard XF, XFS for the warm and XFR for the hot version
like wise XK8 and XKR; XJ6, XJ8, XJS and possibly XJR...
the could bring in other models like XA, XE etc
