BMW M3 Carbon Edition revealed for China

Minor tweaks, insane price

BMW has quietly introduced the M3 Carbon Edition coupe in China.

Following hot on the heels of the M3 Matte Edition, the unique model has an exclusive appearance with a black grille, side body stripes, front bumper with black carbon accents, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, designers added two-tone leather upholstery, carbon fiber trim, and special badging.

Like the standard model, power comes from a 4.0-liter V8 engine that develops 420 PS (309 kW / 414 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Production will be limited to 111 units and pricing starts at 1.23 million yuan ($189,727,000 / €131,303,240).

Thanks to Lars for the tip!

Looking at the photos, that doesn't exactly seem like a "quiet" introduction....

Tasteless piece of pandering to an audience that hasn't developed a taste in cars yet.

I think some made a small math calculation. I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost 131 million euros.

i believe the price, in the catholic church monetary system is.... 131 (thousand) 303 (three hundred and 3) and 240 (euro cents)...to make things clear. which of course, for an m3 with a few carbon accents is ridiculosly greedy. i believe hamman cand make that for u at a fraction of a price (maybe even more stylish). or buy a porsche or a GTR for that amount

Unfortunately not like the US, car price in China is extremely high. The M3's base price in China is like 1.1 million Yuan already...

I am an ///M fan but all these special editions are meaningless. The GTS is enough for the M3 coupe. Why do all these editions. These marketing people of BMW are killing the image of the M3

Well, that's the point! I'm asking myself this question over and over again every time I recognize a new 911 version. But then (just as today) I read at 'car&driver' that all 600 units of the GT3 RS 4.0 are already sold...$200k apiece. And here you go...

Why do all of these stories keep saying that the engine will allow the car to hit 155mph? We've known this for years now, every single German car M, AMG, RS, S or standard can "hit" 155... That is the most irrelevant piece of info in these write-ups these days. Just my opinion.

Must say this is absolutely tasteless. Why do they mess with the formula? Thought BMW had standards to maintain. What next? Front wheel drive.......... :)
