Volkswagen creates edible ad for the Golf R

Volkswagen creates edible ad for the Golf R

Mmm... advertising

Volkswagen has been known to use some pretty memorable ads, but their latest effort certainly takes the cake.

Designed to promote the Golf R in South Africa, the edible "Eat the Road" ad was prominently featured in several local automotive magazines. While there's no word on how it tastes, the ad was made with glutinous rice flour, water, salt, propylene glycol FD&C color and glycerin.

If you've had a bite, let us know how tasty it is in the comments below.

yeah, i'd rather not eat a page out of a magazine, never know where that magazine has been. nice try VW, but this was most definitely the biggest "WTF" idea i've ever seen from an automotive company to promote a "road eating" car

Indeed it is an novel idea, but I am wary of the ingredients (or preservatives) used in producing such an advert, despite being clearly stated. It is quite an eye-opener for me.

I dont know where you got your facts, but you are very misinformed. The golf R starts at R408,930 according to the South African VW website, while the M3 Coupe starts at R839,500. I do believe that is more than double the price of the Golf R.

Will the Golf BlueMotion have a low-fat, naturally-sourced edible advert?
