Minor tweaks, unique features

Porsche has unveiled a special edition 911 to celebrate the company's 10th anniversary in China.

Based on the Turbo S, the unique model features a gold exterior with a carbon fiber hood, a carbon fiber rear spoiler and 19-inch Sport Classic wheels.

Inside, the cabin is outfitted with Alcantara sport seats, carbon fiber trim and exclusive sill plates. Other highlights include a Sport Design steering wheel, unique floor mats and special badging.

Like the standard model, power is provided by a turbocharged 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 530 PS (390 kW / 523 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It is connected to a seven-speed PDK transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 315 km/h (196 mph).

Production will be limited to 10 units, but no word on pricing.

How many more "special edition" 911's do Porsche want to make?

As many as they can sell without completely destroying the models credibility. Considering they've always done special editions, I doubt this one will harm the brand.

not a fan of most of the gimmicky special editions, but this looks fantastic!! Love the retro wheels too. The colour scheme reminds me of the old gold Scalextric 911

They sell a lot more Cayennes than 911s in China anyways, but with only 10 units it will get sold very very quickly, especially unit No.6 and No.8

Being a Porsche FAN doesn't mean you have the money to buy a Porsche 911 Turbo S, and even if you think you have the money, you don't live in China anyways, so who cares what you think?! Porsche only needs 10 people in China to buy these cars.

I'm not sure about 6 but 8 means "prosperity" in Mandarin. It is kinda auspicious for the Chinese.

hapsum, I think you missed a digit there ... RMB 3,488,000 is more than RMB 2,639,800 so how can the German figure be so much less than ? 173,241.911?? I think you meant to say ? 229,000.
