Audi S1 spied near the N?rburgring
Will feature quattro all-wheel drive
If the Audi A1 1.4 TFSI didn't win you over, perhaps you'll be interested in the 2012 S1.
Spied near the Nürburgring, the prototype features an aggressive body kit, aluminum accents and a dual exhaust system. Other goodies include a sport-tuned suspension, a high performance braking system and massive alloy wheels.
Power will reportedly be provided by a turbocharged 1.6-liter engine that produces 220 PS (162 kW / 217 hp). It will be paired to a new quattro all-wheel drive system that has "an electronically controlled, hydraulically actuated multi-plate clutch located in front of the rear axle for an optimized distribution of weight."
No word on when the car will be unveiled, but stay tuned for additional information.

It has a nice front but an ugly rear. The engine is nice compare to the A1 size.

Sounds interesting. Hopefully the exterior in the final version will feature a little more ummpffh if you know what I mean.... Apart from the double exhausts I see no difference to the S-Line model.

you forgot, silver cap wing mirror :) Also bigger wheel, probably 18" will be a standard too for S model and expect LED fog light can be an option too

It looks a little wider than the 1.4tfsi, but I'm not sure. Concerning the styling, this mule features the tfsi bodystyling. It will probably look a little different when it is unveiled.

I've only seen about 2 A1's in my country, now they are talking about a S1 already?

please excuse my ignorrance, where will this 1.6 T be coming from? Does the vag have a 1.6 T??? they have a 1.4 T which could get to the said Power rating else they'd use the 1.8T they already have. The vag/Audi are kidding themselves if they think they are "leaders" no other company is going to put a 4 Wheel drive system in their B segment cars ....this is going to be outside the boundaries of pocket rocket classification.

Don't mention VAG huge R&D, the cost can also eb shared with upcoming Polo R from WRC program. 1.6turbo probably would also eb derived from VW WRC program (if I'm correct the rule states it, doesn't it?). However it just kinda like another show-off (good for us not for for their profit and even for rivals who has to push further). Expect the car cost will offer us same money to run for A3 with 2.0 TFSI or 123ti (don't know how BMW will call the 180kw 2.0 turbo petrol)?
