First photos of the 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 with BMW M TwinPower technology

Here are a couple of under the hood shots of the upcoming 2012 BMW F10 M5 which were first published on M5board.com.

The 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 with BMW M TwinPower technology will be coupled to the 7-speed M DCT Drivelogic double-clutch gearbox but details on output have still not been confirmed.

We expect somewhere in the vicinity of 575 PS (423 kW / 567 bhp) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque, perhaps due to the rumor that BMW was having some gearbox problems with higher output levels. Original reports had pegged power at around 600 PS. This we cannot confirm but it is still far more power than on the previous M5's V10 engine and with a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption to boot.

The next-generation BMW F10 M5 will debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

BMW must be shaking in their boots after learning just yesterday of Maserati's plan to use a Chrysler engine. BMW might want to go back to the drawing board. Ha Ha HA! Amazing engine.

It is the exact twin turbo V8 found in the 750 with less engine cover made of cheap plastics with a shiny M badge and red blue stickers. What a shame that M cars has lost its bespoke-ness, character or desirability. The engine is no longer the heart of an M car.

No it isn't. It is similar, they already said for the X5/X6 M. But it is modified heavily, just look at those massive intercoolers...

Really? Only speak what you know of vw man. Try racing an M and see it's heart. And they can take modifying as in the fastest saloon on the planet, the 372 KM/h BMW M5 G-Power. Not many to stay with this.Let's see how fast the M5 is when it arrives.I have not seen better than a BMW engine and I own what I speak of.Poor try attempting to knock the bechmark of performance saloons.

I don't think that BMW will ever loose its character, very distinctive cars, and i guess no one can deny that! An M/// engine doesn't have too look pretty, but can sure pretty impress.

normal N63B44 (4.4 V8 TT) as it is used in 5, 7, GT, X5/6 http://www.carsmagz.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/2010-BMW-550i-Gran-Turismo-from-Engine-View-Picture-570x378.jpg @nederinaa does it look like the exact same engine?

Those are some pretty big ass charge coolers. By the looks of it its a water cooled system. Can't wait for akrapovic to get an exhaust out and someone to tune the Ecu. I can see over 600hp easily.
