Mercedes G65 AMG in the works - report
A last hurrah?
Even though Mercedes is starting to wind down production of the G-Class, a new report is indicating the company could offer a limited edition G65 AMG.
While nothing is official, Dutch website Autoblog.nl says the range-topping model would be outfitted with a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 engine that develops 612 PS (450 kW / 604 hp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque. For comparison, the G55 AMG has a 5.5-liter V8 with 507 PS (373 kW / 500 hp) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque.
If the reports are correct, production could be limited to 200 units and pricing would start at €220,000 ($312,200) before tax.

I've actually waited for this for a long time lol
But then Brabus did stuck their V12 into the G Wagon...

Yes me 2 !! I was always wondering why didn't Mercedes fit in that V12 engine onto these big heavy 4x4s as they should make use of the power easily as they have proper AWD and probably would benefit from that amount of torque from towing anyway !!

How about a Black Series for the final car? This car gets more creds than the flawed ML63.

haha, me too
what a senceless machine, but so impressive. It's kind of monster with so much understatement! G forever!

One thing I can say is, this will be the only Benz heavy enough to put the power to the ground with the 65 motor.

I just wonder if it will only be rear wheel drive, would be surprised if the drive train could handle all of that torque.

Arab and Russian millionaires will buy all these cars, and after end of its production in Austria it will be started in Russia or Saudi Arabia

My favourite car of all time and I do really wrote to AMG last year about making a special edition of this car with a 65 engine! I love it with the steel guard on the front like the one shown here http://store2.up-00.com/Mar11/DEV43473.png / I hate it with that black thing on the headlights

Must get a G before production ends. The last of the original 4X4s. I read an article in TopGear which compared a G350 CDI Bluetech to a Range Rover and the writer thought the Ranger Rover at least equalled the G-class off-road. I laughed out loud as I read that. As good as the Range Rover is it isn't that great offroad as I now locking differentials are much more important. Additionally, drive both on a potholed...sorry crater riden bush road in Africa and only one will make it back intact. Hint...it starts with G! :-)
