2014 Chevrolet Corvette has grand ambitions
Will be completely different than the C6
New details are starting to emerge about the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette.
In an interview with AutoCar, Mark Ruess - GM's North American President - said the redesigned sports car will be a truly global competitor that is "completely different" from the current model. Furthermore, design boss Ed Welburn acknowledged the C6's interior was disappointing but the C7 will have a cabin that is "absolutely world class."
While the executives declined to provide additional information, previous rumors have indicated the car could be mid-engined and adopt a turbocharged V6. GM has denied those reports, but hinted the model will be smaller, lighter, and possibly available as a hybrid.

Looks like the swoopy 70's version. That is the most ugly version of this car to date. I'm 29 y.o. and I'd be EMBARRASED to drive this thing, it's swoopy like the batmobile bangle/butt era. Designers just don't get it.
Give me a 911, M3, or Mustang GT anyday.

Great news on the interior upgrade. The current one is not worth $#!#, everytime you pull the door shut, the trim comes off. Also, good news on the smaller size.

I do! :) Vette is a dream car, and i'd rather dream of cars with V8, not V6 hybrid :)

Hopefully, they won't go retro aka a lack of ideas, or it won't look anything like this cut & paste job. Seriously, who thought that was a good idea?

Hats off to Corvette engineers (to Caddilac as well). Despite being under GM's "average manufacturer" umbrella they manage to bring out great cars. I trust them to give us a world class sports machine.

whats wrong with the current vette? just put a smaller high boost v8 motor and double clutch the rear gearbox...

I'm with you. It's the only "affordable" semi-super car. The C7 will not be as much different as the "Ferrari Fans" want, it will not get away from being a car many can afford.
It will also, when well driven, put to shame many exotics.

never seen a car so heavily dented in all my life . these "stealthy" facets might have been purposely applied in order to deflect police radar .

If I were Chevy I would sue everyone who publishes this "design concept". It is one of the ugliest designs ever.

The concept car is from Transformers - anyone remember the Vette in Corvette Summer with Mark Hammel? I think it is like that.

Does 'world class interior' mean they're just going to cover up all the black plastic bits with more fake chrome and wood?

It definitely will not be mid-engine! Instead it will have the same technology and drivetrain passed down from the Vettes in the American LeMans series, i.e. a 5.5 litre DI V-8 front mounted or rather front mid-mounted engine, transaxle and paddle shifted as the current LeMans version and coilover suspension and possibly additional carbon fibre body panels to make it lighter. The interior apparently will rival Audi interiors hopefully replacing the plastic with carbon fibre. V-6 not a chance in hell!
