Audi Q5 Cabriolet coming in 2012 - report
Production could be limited to 5,000 units
Convertible crossovers may not make a lot of sense, but Audi is reportedly considering a production version of the Cross Cabriolet concept.
Details are limited, but Auto Express says the model would retain the concept's two-door layout and canvas roof. Furthermore, the Q5 Cabriolet would have a bespoke interior which would help to justify the premium £40,000 ($65,375 / €45,700) price tag.
If approved, production could be limited to 5,000 units and the crossover would be built, in late 2012, by an independent contractor such as Magna Steyr or Valmet.

Think of it as a high end Dune Buggy.
I bet the Audi will have some kind of rollover protection.

It won't be nearly as capable off-road as that. The high body just creates a more commanding driving position.

I think Audi are the only ones who make all wheel drive convertibles, so this isn't really all that unusual.

Audi need to rediscover their global reputation for innovation! Nissan got there first with the CrossCabriolet; the last car firm you would have thought of to make such a move in the ultimate car market, USA!

In the usa $65000 for a Q5 may be expensive, but where I live ?45000 is about the base price. Nice tax system we've got here.
