2012 Volkswagen Beetle spotted on the street [video]
Production version of the 2012 Beetle spotted in Laredo, Texas well before the new model goes on sale anywhere
Here is one of the first sightings of the production 2012 Volkswagen Beetle caught while out driving casually on the streets even before it goes on sale anywhere.
This very short video (7 seconds) of a silver new Beetle (no longer the "New Beetle") was taken in Laredo, Texas.
We dare to try to explain what's probably going on here.
We can see the car is sporting an orange-colored license plate which appears to be from Mexico. We know that the Beetle is built at a plant in Puebla, Mexico, so, we can guess that this is perhaps an early production model being used by a VW employee on a trip across the border to Laredo, Texas...or something of the kind.

Looks good. And with the TDi a better green driving machine than the Prius?

perhaps not. green means efficiency aswell - 4 doors are way more efficient than 2 doors. I guess a 4 doors tdi golf is a better answer.

4 doors are only more efficient if you have 4 passangers(strictly speaking if the 4 seater also weighs more then the 2 seater) :D
