E60 BMW M5 blows past F10 M5 at 290 km/h on German autobahn [video]

Video shows a 2005 BMW M5 (E60) taking on a 2012 BMW M5 (F10) prototype with full-throttle on a German autobahn

Here's a video taken from the inside of an E60 M5 on the German autobahn which happens across a BMW F10 M5 prototype doing some highway testing.

The 2005 E60 M5 blows past the F10 at more than 290 km/h (180 mph), as we can see on the speedometer reading in the video.

This is all legal, of course, having taken place on a speed limit-free stretch of highway in Germany.

The man was on holiday when he spotted the F10 M5 prototype and he estimates its speed at over 250 km/h (155 mph) and likely testing without a V-max limiter.

As a german I enjoy these Autobahns a lot but, to be honest, that is not the kind of people I?d like to have near me, fooling around with a mobile phone (or whatever) at 300 Km/h.

Totally agree. I have been following wcf for number of years and it is a very good site. But you guys should not publicise idiots who are playing with their mobile phones whilst driving, regardless of speed.

+1, tsiebrand and reshdiu... I'm not a German but I always enjoy driving on the Autobahn and when I drive at high speed or any speed, I'm not nervous about me, because I know myself and my limits, I'm more nervous about the other "neighbours" in traffic... and this happens not only on the Autobahn but on any roads, anywhere...

completely agree with tsiebrand. Driving at high speeds is dangerous and needs all your attention on the road and not on your mobile phone. And overtaking the F10 doesn't prove too much either, the new M5 has more horsepower so it's clear which is the faster of the two.

how do you know the "2012 BMW M5 (F10) prototype with full-throttle" ??

I believe they meant that it passed the prototype by means of full throttle. That is what the structure of the sentence says to me. Else, there is no way to assess full throttle from another vehicle on the next lane...

WCF what's the point of this article? There are absolutely no information in this posting. Showing somebody fooling around at 300km/h just gives him credits. Everybody who ever drove over 250km/h knows how fast things can happen.
