SLS AMG Roadster spied in black with a contrasting light-brown soft-top folding roof

Here are the cleanest and best spy shots we've had on the upcoming 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster.

We see the prototype here dressed in black with a light-brown soft-top roof and the car appears ready to go.

The SLS AMG Roadster will drop, for obvious reasons, the gullwing doors of the SLS AMG but will share the same 6.3 liter (6,208cc) V8 with an output of 420 kW (571 PS / 563 bhp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque. The 0-100 km/h sprint comes in at a flat 4.0 seconds and top speed will be 309 km/h (192 mph).

We expected the 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster to debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

1) It always looks better in black 2) High boot line gives it a slight hunch back from the side profile 3) I'm glad I can't afford one because I will be torn between choosing the original or roadster

I would love to go to Sindelfigen, if I spelled that right. The home of the Mercedes Museum and the AMG Plant. Someday I will.

Radmeister: you are correct. I guess thats why Fletcher Jones Mercedes in New Port Beach is the largest MB dealership in the country.

Love the car, dont like the color combo,or the wheels or the long wait to get one. But other than that MB has another hit on its hands!!!! . P.S. you can drive your convertible or at least I do , if you live in southern california

Cali has ALWAYS been Mercedes' convertible market, if i had to guess 80% of these will be sold in California. I know that if you want a classic 560SL or 600SL California has a ridiculous amount of them. Not just for convertibles, california is the capital for all high end mercedes sales. A lot of old money there.

poor marketing. it should be released in spring, for the majority of the market in northern hemisphere. September release for winter delivery??? so you can drive your convertible in winter?

LOL you wont get it until the next spring-summer anyways, has a 6month delivery time. Unless you walk into the dealer and they by some miracle have one exactly how you want it as their demo and they are willing to let it go, otherwise custom order average delivery time for state-side is 6months.

It was spied undisguised somewhere else too... like During a super bowel commercial. This car is to over hyped considering it's already been shown. Whats Mercedes waiting for?

Want to see it on the streets. By the way, this must be the US version, because of the space for the license plates: it is not european size.

You can tell it's the US Version by the amber hazard lights/reflectors(?) just to the side of the headlights...All US sold cars have to to have it - Thank god we don't in Europe, I much prefer cars without!
