An armored VW Bora (Jetta) - but only for Mexico
The Bora Protect costs about $70,000 (?48,000), is bullet-proof and features run-flat tires
Security is a huge factor in Mexico these days, given the country's brutal and tragic drug war.
So, VW devised this armored Bora model (based on the previous-generation Jetta), which it has been offering in Mexico for a while now, as a less expensive option vis-a-vis those large armor-plated SUVs that are the norm for those needing protection.
The Bora Protect costs about $70,000 (€48,000) and comes with the 2.0 liter TFSI engine with 200 bhp (149 kW / 203 PS), coupled to VW's six-speed DSG gearbox. It is bullet-proof and features run-flat tires so that a round through the tire rubber won't prevent you from speeding away.

Drug cartels just got their prayers answered. I see VW selling a lot of these.

Basically a Jetta GLi with armour plating!
IMO this previous version looks nicer than the new Jetta!

I am sure the 150 million we give mexico every year to fight drugs will be used for these vehicles. The US also wastes money by placing catalytic converters on mexican trucks traveling to the US

Its a shame the thinking of WCF that just in Mexico selling this car. The fight is between drug cartels community fighting for their territory and unfortunately in this war innocent people got killed... This war had killed more people than the revolution... I love this country and sadly with or without bulletproof cars if the "bad people" want you killed they do it everywhere, not only in Mexico but in every country of the world, with or without bodyguards and with or without bulletproof cars... No matter what Mexico is a great country to visit, to know, to understand and to learn one of the oldest cultures in the world. Once more its a shame this article "VW Bora (jetta) but only in Mexico" insecurity, crime, drugs and kidnap is EVERYWHERE, not only in Mexico! Think about it...

Up to what calibres?, probably B3a/B4, I Doubt that engine can handle full B6/B7 amour weight.
BTW- There is nothing like 'Bullet-Proof' just 'Bullet-Resistant'.
