Specialty German marque Melkus will bring the RS2000 GT and GTS models to the Top Marques show in Monaco next weekend

Specialty German marque Melkus Sportwagen GmbH will be bringing two new models to the Top Marques show next weekend in Monaco.

The RS2000 GT and GTS are two variants of a lightweight sport coupe (975 kg / 2145 lbs ) both fitted with a 2.0 liter turbocharged power plant supplied by a "well-known German manufacturer," according to Melkus.

The top-performing GTS comes with 350 PS (257 kW / 345 bhp) and a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). It does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds.

The GT model comes with 300 PS (221 kW / 296 bhp) and has a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of 4.5 seconds.

Both the GT and GTS come with a adjustable dampers for the suspension and AP performance brakes. To get that curb weight below the 1000 kg (2205 lb) mark, Melkus makes substantial use of carbon-fiber components, including for the aerodynamic kit which features a front spoiler, rear wing, rear diffuser and side air guides.

You can't compare a Wiesmann with the Melkus. A Wiesmann is not only a facelift of a still existing model (Melkus = Exige 2.0), it's a total new car (exept the engine). The Melkus is not bad, but the price is too high!

It's German so, it's got to be good. Weismann gave us the German TVR and now Melkus gives us the German Lotus Exige. The Brits are doing something right after all!

Is it just me or does it look a lot like a Lotus Elise, from the rear and side profile?
