In an attempt to make the Meriva more appealing to younger buyers, Opel has unveiled the new Design Edition.

Available in five exterior colors (Casablanca White, Magma Red, Technical Grey, Star Silver and Henna), the DE is distinguished by adaptive headlights, tinted rear windows, a gloss black roof and 18-inch alloy wheels.

While the styling tweaks are nice, Opel hasn't skimped on the standard equipment as the model boasts air conditioning, cruise control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the unique FlexRail storage system.

On sale shortly, the Meriva Design Edition will be priced from €19,570 (including VAT).

Rüsselsheim. The new Opel Meriva is enjoying great popularity. Just one year after the start of production, 120,000 new Merivas are already on 's roads, making Opel's small monocab the clear top seller in its segment. More than 30% of the small monocabs sold in are currently Merivas - twice as many as its nearest competitor.

Opel's market leader now extends its appeal and is available as a Design Edition. A high-gloss black roof, tinted headlamps with AFL adaptive lighting, fog lamps, deep tinted and thermally insulated rear windows as well as 18-inch bi-color alloy wheels, all combine to give the Meriva Design Edition a distinctive, sporty look. It is available in five exterior colors: Casablanca White, Magma Red, Technical Grey, Star Silver and the brand new, warm Henna - with prices starting from 19,570 euros (MSRP incl. VAT in ).

Extensive standard equipment for this sexy Flexibility Champion includes: air conditioning, CD radio, on-board computer, a leather steering wheel, electric power windows front, electrically adjustable rear-view mirrors, cruise control, and the innovative FlexRail center console storage.

The inspiration for this special Meriva is the successful Corsa Color Edition, which currently accounts for about 25% of all Corsa 3-door sales in Europe.

It does look a bit nicer that the basic model. Truth is I would prefer this over all the boring Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris that are around.

I wished Chevrolet would be selling a version of the Meriva here in the USA instead of the upcoming Chevrolet Sonic hatchback, since the Sonic could accommodate the same engines found on the Cruze sedan.
