Gallardo-replacement Cabrera to sport 600 HP supercharged V10

Gallardo-replacement Cabrera to sport 600 HP supercharged V10
Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 Bicolore 26.01.2011

Cabrera, which means goat herder in Spanish, will take on the Ferrari 458 Italia

Lamborghini is working on a Ferrari 458 Italia-fighting successor to the Gallardo model and the new name for the car is said to be 'Cabrera'.

Okay, we've heard that bit of news before but, according to French car magazine L'Automobile, this new goat herder (that's what 'Cabrera' means in Spanish and Catalan) will be sporting a supercharged V10 engine with around 600 PS (441 kW / 592 bhp).

That would be about 30 horses more than on the outgoing Gallardo Superleggera which has an output of 570 PS (419 kW / 562 bhp) on its 5.2 liter V10. And that supercharger provides a lot of opportunities for tuners to take it upon themselves to dial the noise up even more.

The new Cabrera would also sport a new multi-sectional carbon fiber monocoque chassis as well as the usual assortment of lightweight carbon-fiber and carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) components to make this a very competitive supercar model. The Cabrera will also come as an all-wheel drive.

Expect more details to come.

I really hope they are more creative with the design. The Avantador is really no different in appearance to the murcielago & I would hate to see the Cabrera look identicle to the Gallardo.I also hope that this engine does not find it?s way into the R8.Lambo engines should be exclusive to Lambo?s & not made available to Audi R8/S8/S6.

Hopefully Cabrera gets the scissors doors, even though at the moment they are exclusive to the flagship models only. Those doors are 1 of the most recognizable thing about a Lambo after all

V10 supercharger? How many mpgs? Unless its a small capacity v10 a la LFA, still doesn't make sense to be s/c and figures don't jive with the Aventadors V12 (too close) maybe its for the 4 door *(Cabrera sounds like Carrera)*

whatever it is, unless you want the first one on the block, it's better to wait for the more exciting models.

Lamborghini should realize an industry paradigm shift with BMW i8 is likely and that the Cabera should offer better than the current.

Not particularly imaginative with the proposed model name change for the landmark Gallardo. Lamborghini, sort this out please! Why name a car closely mimicking the truly unique 911 Carrera, a direct rival car?! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot.

Lamborghini...you have a world of lovely-sounding names, whether in Italian or Spanish...what I want to say? A goat herder CANNOT tame a wild horse!

Cabrera refers to one of the 5 historic breeds that the Muira bulls trace their bloodline from. The Gallardo was also named after another of those breeds.
