Previews the production model

Following last week's teaser, Renault-Samsung has officially unveiled the new SM7 concept at the Seoul Motor Show.

Designed to preview the production model, the concept features an attractive design with soft lines, a prominent grille, and LED lighting units.

Specifications haven't been announced, but the car reportedly rides on the D platform which underpins the Nissan Maxima / Nissan Teana (JDM). This means engine options will likely include a 2.5-liter V6 with 182 hp (136 kW / 185 PS) and 232 Nm (171 lb-ft) of torque as well as a 3.5-liter V6 that develops 251 hp (187 kW / 254 PS) and 335 Nm (247 lb-ft) of torque.

More information will be released closer to the car's launch, so stay tuned for details.

Imo, the SM7 concept contains some Audi (i.e. integrated front grille bumper) and Opel Insignia (i.e. some exterior traces) elements which was not badly executed, stylistically-speaking. It looks much better than the current re-badged Renault and Nissan cars the Korean carmaker is associated.

Oh I was really sure, that all commentions are full of comparison to other brands and models... Just take an overlook of the car and rate it then, without only seeing bestknown cars in it. This is not a challange to find similaries to others. To dreate a cardesign is a really hard process and people have no respect about the createurs. That's really sad for selfcalled "Carfans". About the Samsung: This design is really modern but even discretly, kindly special but with alot of Understatement. With a good image campaign it can also have alot success in europe... Good luck Renault

Trouble today is there have been so many cars and originality is becoming harder to spot, as so many design ideas have been used. No-one dares to be really radical either, which is the only way we will ever see anything really new.

they used to be one and the same; samsung had businesses ranging from building big ships, to electronics and cars and god knows what else... but a couple a years ago there was a correan crysis with a lot of bankcruptcies and everything got separated... the cars division ended up in renault`s hands. right now its like the 3rd constructor in corea after the big two: kia and hyundai, with something like 15% of the market

cata is right.. Samsung is more than you think in S.Korea you know.. The largest hospital in Korea? It's the Samsung medical center Big ships? Samsung is in the big 5 With Hyudnai Ships Electronics?- You know what Apartments/ constructions? big 5 With Hyundai constructions One of the largest amusement parks is built by samsung (Samsung Everland) There is also samsung insurance, Samsung Venture investments, Samsung Card, Samsung Investment&Securities, Samsung monetary managements, Samsung heavy industry, Samsung Total, Samsung oilbank, Samsung technologies, Samsung hotel(top 3), Samsung cloathings, Samsung security(sortof like CAPS) And they are all owned by Samsung's CEO Only Samsung Motors was sold at economic crisis. One of the reasons why Korean people like Samsung much better than Apple.. Samsung's not just about the Phones and MP3s.. Them Hyundai, LG, Samusng..etc they all are some sort of the foundation of The Korea you see today.

And BTW it wasn't Samsung who needed the money when they sold Samsung motors. It was the Government. The Government forced Samsung to sell Samsung motors To get some foreign Money in their hand. IF samsung motors wasn't sold.. Oh god I can only imagine

anyway as oposed to what renault brought us up until now in the segment of laguna and above was only crap from the design point of view... so at least this one will be a breath of fresh air, even if its a rebadge. i think it looks good! i am sooo hating subaru for this one... even the coreans are moving along with the design...but nooo..they had to stuck with that shitty design they have right now....such a pitty for the engineering (all the mechanical performance and reliability and the rallying experience)

Subaru Legancy in the profile, with a Saab 9-5 alike back. Looks OK though, credible for a Korean brand.

Amazing design nonetheless Audi-grille or not. If Renault can start to make visually attractive cars like the SM7, then they will start becoming Car of the Year contenders and sales will pick up too! Just think back to the 90s when Nissan used to make Almeras! Now they make the Juke. Citroen used to make the Saxo VTS; now it's DS3. Wake up Renault!
