2012 Mercedes-Benz ML-Class spied on the street [video]

Next-generation ML-Class prototype spied on the street with a video outtake getting very close up

Here's a video of a 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML-Class prototype spied on the street in Germany and filmed with a phone-camera.

We've already published a few sets of spy shots of the next-generation ML-Class but this video, however shaky, takes us right up to the car where we get a better look at the details.

Those include the rear wraparound taillights (borrowed from the E-Class) at the back, and the new front fascia with new grille, headlights and LED daytime driving lights on the bumper.

Under the hood of the next-generation ML-Class we expect the 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) 3.5-liter V6 and a 3.0-liter diesel producing 265 PS (195 kW / 262 hp). A range-topping 435 PS (320 kW / 429 hp) 4.6-liter V8 will also be available.

Look for the 2012 ML-Class to debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

Pah, this looks like the ugly mule again. Guess there'll be no escaping MB's family look. It's sort of awkward in ML guise, something like a Cayenne, in that its shape is slightly jarring to the eyes.

It looks quite longer than the current ML. Should be more alike the Q7 now. The current ML is a bit shorter.

we'll be keeping our 2010 ml for as long as the warranty holds out, i think the current generation looks for rugged.

MB may have decided to go the previous GL route with the all-new ML based on the angular look of the pillars; not a great move IMHO! Final version could be better, but I'll reserve my judgement until then. Last version was best ML design ever, making the original look 80s old.
