Here are first photos of the 2012 MINI Coupe and MINI John Cooper Works Coupe spied on the streets of Munich.

First introduced as the MINI Coupe Concept along with the MINI Roadster Concept in Frankfurt 2009, these photos are the cleanest seen so far.

With camouflage concentrated on the rear upper body area, we suspect MINI is trying to hide the taller dimensions of the greenhouse and steeper windshield compared to the concept. Otherwise, in JCW trim the Coupe looks identical to the Fankfurt concept - even down to the body kit, wheels and reverse baseball cap roof.

In the photos of the regular Coupe in black we can see a retractable spoiler in the up position while in motion.

It was rumored the production version of the MINI Coupe and Roadster would debut at the recent Geneva Motor Show but it seems MINI is not quite ready. Expect a market launch later in the year.

ENOUGH ALREADY! This brand is destroying itself with too many different variations of the same car. It's really getting annoying and as a result, the brand is starting to lose it's coolness. Please just take a break or acutally design a whole new "different" looking model.

I like it- and i like the brand! Drove a JCW last year and it was amazing! I do however think that the hatch is cooler.

Me too, I think people who don't like the brand, weren't even considering buying the original Mini anyway. They'd prefer the brand to die actually. Grumpy old men!

The biggest problem with Mini is it has all the costs of repair of a BMW but with MUCH worse build quality. I had a JCW conv. The roof cable popped, $1700 bucks. Rear power window requlator went bad, $625. Both happended Months after the warranty ended. No indep. shop could do eithe job, special jigs and tools needed. I sold it fast. My GTI has 43k on the clock. Has been a much better car.

I agree. I have a 2009 MCS and it's been a blast driving it. But dang the build quality is pretty janky. My door lock rattles, my rev counter rattles, my dashboard rattles, my speakers on the doors rattle, and I'm done with my warranty! I should've waited patiently for the new GTI.

Porsche does it for fun so why not MINI which could have been dead in the water save for BMW's rescue plan? This will be the Fiat 500 Zagato Coupe rival for sure.

Not the No. of Cars are the Problem, the same engine at least is it. I?m tired of driving only 211 to 218hp. BTW: Where is the real lightweight Body like Alfa 4c???
