Inside P4/5 Competizione - Part 2 [video]

The story behind the development of the P4/5 Competizione race car continues with part 2 giving us some insight into the original intentions of the project as well as the snowballing media coverage.

Originally commissioned by Jim Glickenhaus as a one-off Pininfarina-designed P4/5 back in 2006, the project has evolved into the construction of his own Competizione endurance racer version. Derived from a F430 Scuderia and using the same engine and suspension as the Ferrari F430 GT2 ALMS, the goal is to contest the 24 Hours of Nürburgring in 2011.

In the video Glickenhaus responds to an online post admitting his intentions in creating the Frankenstein Ferrari racer were never for greatness. As an American auto collector and avid racing enthusiast, it was for himself and his family to create a modern day racer with a playboy-racing spirit of the 1960s.

Although never intended, the transparency of the project has brought the P4/5 Competizione project a lot of media exposure almost taking on a life of its own. Well documented on WCF and countless other publications, the insatiable appetite of interactive media to break news scoops has given the P4/5 project a large amount of outside interest. As a result, the P4/5 Competizione project has become a "dark horse" of sorts with a phrenetic base following.

Glickenhaus will race the car under the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus team name at the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring circuit on June 25th.
