Fiat 500 Zagato coupe gets green-lighted - report
Will reportedly be sold in limited numbers
According to a recent report, the Fiat 500 Zagato coupe has been green-lighted for limited production.
Details are scarce, but Autoblog Spanish is reporting Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne confirmed the vehicle's status while making remarks about the Toluca Assembly Plant in Mexico. Marchionne declined to mention when the model will be introduced, but stated the car would be built in Europe.
Under the hood, engine options are expected to carryover from the standard 500. This means the primary offering will likely be the TwinAir two-cylinder that develops 65 PS (48 kW / 65 hp) to 105 PS (78 kW / 104 hp).

Wow, some good news regarding concepts being green lighted for production. Considering how the Abarth variant gives the outgoing normal 500 a sporty squat down stance, the Abarth version of this should look very tasty indeed. Hope we get an Abarth SS+ or Zagato Abarth, with more power and/or less weight.

It would make sense for this to only come with Abarth badging, albeit I'd like to see the Twinair unit in it.

So what's the point? Someone grafted the windows from an Alfa MiTo onto the sides, put on the U.S. spec bumpers and sat on the rear end for a while. Is it just the word "Zagato"?

Ferrari supermini green-lighted. God never sleeps! Now for Abarth to run riot with this tiny Coupe with race-derived soundtrack and dynamics to frighten the MINI Cooper Works Coupe!
