First Porsche 911 GT2 RSs delivered in North American [video]

Last month, the first twenty Porsche GT2 RS customers had the opportunity to take delivery of their new 620 PS (456 kW / 612 hp) cars at the El Toro Air Station in Irvine, California.

Customers used the event to familiarize themselves with their new cars alongside Porsche Driving Instructors on the open airfield. Andreas Preuninger, the Manager of High Performance Cars for Porsche, was also in attendance and used the event to disclose the secrets of the "Beast" GT2 RS development program.

As the most powerful production 911 to date, the car weighs a mere 3,020 lb (1,370 kilograms), giving it a power to weight ratio of 4.9 lbs (2.21 kg) per horsepower. Riding on 245/35 ZR 19 tires at the front and 325/30 ZR 19 for the rear axle, the GT2 RS comes with anti-roll bars and Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management (PASM).

Performance specs are as follows: Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time 7 minutes and 18 seconds, 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds (0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds), 0 to 200 km/h in just 9.8 seconds, and 0 to 300 km/h in 28.9 seconds. Top speed: 205 mph or 330 km/h.

Very nice!! Just wonder how many of these owners will end up dead in this beast since I doubt most know or can handle such power... former GT2's were known as widow makers

The only minor let-down was that soundtrack; imagine it air-cooled! Still, another masterpiece from the Porsche conveyor belt.
